Could be, I didn't notice on the channel 7 graphic if it said standard time or daylight saving.

Edit- You're right I just checked on afl.com

PRELIMINARY FINALS
Friday, October 16

First Preliminary Final, Port Adelaide v Richmond or St Kilda at Adelaide Oval, 7.20pm ACDT (7.50pm AEDT)

Saturday, October 17
Second Preliminary Final, Brisbane v [Winner of First Semi-Final] at the Gabba, 6.40pm AEST (7.40pm AEDT)

Advertised as 7:40pm down here in Melbourne so assume 6:40 local time.

I hope Collingwood beats Geelong, because it would be very enjoyable to give them a good hiding in a prelim at the Gabba.
Wow Collingwood were impressive tonight and to be fair they have had a lot of travelling, especially during that first footy frenzy. Geelong have the extra couple of days break, but they will need to play very well. I still think we play Geelong in Prelim but not as confident. Hats off to Collingwood for a gutsy win

I'd rather play the Cats than the Magpies in the Prelim, I think the Cats game style is easier to combat than the frantic style the Pies like to and can play at their best, still very confident of a victory whoever we play though, however in the unlikely event that we do lose a loss to the Pies would be extremely hard to take.

Don’t care who we play, the only side I have feared us playing recently is Richmond but we got that monkey off our back on Friday so boys will be brimming with confidence to take on anyone.

Do we have a scratch match for the rest of the players?

Did we have one last week and this week? If so, who played well?

Bit worried if we get injuries in a fortnight and have to play underdone players as West Coast did last night.

One more thing: Have we ever had four better games to start a final series?

I didn't want to create it as a "Changes" thread because it felt like disrespect given the effort the guys just put out, cracking our only remaining long winless streak and getting us one win away from a home grand final appearance.

So consider this the placeholder thread for prelim discussions about the prelim final.
I certainly don't want any changes to the effort and spirit displayed by our mighty Lions but I think it would be acceptable to hope for a better thinking process by a certain ruckman, with a free kick thirty yards out, dead in front, with bugger all time to go.

Its funny now but at the time?

According to my calculations, there are nine possible Grand Final combinations remaining, numbers in brackets being ladder positions at the end of the H&A season.

Port v Bris (1v2)

Port v Geel (1v4)

Port v Coll (1v8)

Bris v Rich (2v3)

Bris v StK (2v6)

Rich v Geel (3v4)

Rich v Coll (3v8)

Geel v StK (4v6)

StK v Coll (6v8)

All remaining teams have three possible GF opponents if they make it to the big day.

I think the best game would be us playing Port, plus I think it would be a great outcome especially after most of the "experts" had Port and us on the third and fourth lines of favoritism from a long way back.

Yes yes, Stef is not great with his awareness and vision, when he passed that off to Charlie I was like > no no no no no no noooooo!!!

If Stef has the ball he should have 2 options 1- bomb it long to a contest. 2- handball it off to a player in space. Never never never try any sort of nuanced short kick/handball Stef please. KISS.

Geelong are the only team left that we haven’t beaten this year so I think that would be a great match up in the Prelim.
They beat us in 1 quarter only in that game and I think they play a style more easily defendable than Collingwoods manic style.

We were lucky to be close to Collingwood in the first quarter of that game. But a second quarter blitz got us over the line. And we went into defensive mode after getting the lead.

So both teams are beatable but I think I would prefer to play Geelong.

Bring back Archie ;)

There was a joke of a holding call in there somewhere.
Yes the worst call against us all night. It was half way through the second quarter. Tigers were on top at the Time. Richmond player (can’t Remember who)dropped the ball as soon as tackled. up to then I thought the Umpires had interpreted “incorrect disposal” correctly. I thought here we go Richmond dropping the ball when tackled and just pushing it forward. Worst moment of the game for me, thought we were gone.

If it were in any way possible I'd be making one change . But I'm not prepared to say what it is.

Overall it's important that all players in our forward line chase and tackle hard . That's what won us the game and limited the rebound that Richmond thrive on. So it's important they all do it.

I think our forward line arguably matches up better against the Pies, and possibly our backline matches up better against the pies forwards. I am worried about Geelong, Harris has in the past had problems with Hawkins, and whilst he had a very ordinary game against Port, Rohan speed worries me he is simply too fast for Lester as we saw at the SCG, maybe Starc is confident enough now. I think Gardner has to take Dangerfield when he goes forward. In the 1st Q against Port, Stanley going forward gave Geelong a height advantage and looked threatening, I could see Geelong attempting that against our 2nd or 3rd backman.

Fantastic win by Pies last night but with the effort and the travelling, Geelong would have to be favourites. I would prefer to play Collingwood in Prelim but think it will be Geelong, but also feel we would beat either of them in prelim at the GABBA

If the Saints win and Geelong win, the Prelims will be:

Port v Saints
Lions v Geelong

Exact same as 2004...

And playing Geelong at home would be something different

lions v Rocky. I know he is well disliked here, but I'd be happy for him to be runner up this year. Imagine what he could have been if his initial coach was someone like Fagan.
