I think one of the reasons Victorians are not liked so much here is the AFL, its so biased toward Victorian clubs they all get incensed when some favoritism goes our way.

Your club created that "us vs them" mentality when you first came into the league (see the third verse of your club song) and you guys have perpetuated this myth ever since.

I actually thought that Wellsy contributed more to our cause during the finals than Trent did to the tigers cause. But I may well be wrong as I often am.

In the end of the day - these blokes aren't full time professionals (except for a couple). Sure, the umpires next week will probably take home just over $100k after the end of the season, but 95% will supplement their income with other jobs, and train on a Tuesday and Thursday (and a meeting on Monday)

Maybe the Afl needs to make umpires better paid so they can go full time and train 5 times a week. But remember, these guys are human. Just like the players who make shitty decisions/kicks/head high contact at times. It's not a perfect system, but having every decision reviewed would be awful - just like these goal reviews where nobody knows what's happening

Very good point you raise here as with the cash reserves the AFL has, you would think they could invest a bit more dough in this area? AFL still behind the times.

Drew was pushed in the back trying to pick up the ball pretty early in the second - no free. From that point on it was a farce.

Swallow incident have me the most baffled. The ****ing commentary understated "swallow probably has a case there" gee really?
Between Swallow, Jacobs and Waite they are hard to split though..still shaking my head.

I'll post on here about the umps as I did on the Bay. I have 2 rules about umps.

1. Never blame umps
2. If in doubt, see rule 1.

Yes there may have been disputable decisions but they did not cost us the game.

If anything, it further entrenches the need to finish in the top 4 and start well.
