Bit rich coming from a hawks supporter.Umpiring tonight was poor but the umpiring was far worse last night in the freo hawks match...

Lol. Not even close.

Umpires brought you back in the game and pushed it out to a 2 or 3 goal lead . After that you were never going to lose.

You'll get completely pantsed next week but at least you are there.

We lost by 25 points. Isolate the Shuey goal against Dal, the "hold" against Taz and the Jacobs non-trip.. **** me if it wasn't the difference.
And that 2nd quarter mark Waite they didn't pay because of ... Well I don't know, went straight back into their forward line for goal. When we were hot .

The biggest thing about the umpiring was the timing of the decisions, overall it was beyond subpar, but just the timing, Dal's 'high', Jacob's getting tripped, I mean these are momentum swinging decisions. Who knows what would have happened if they'd payed the frees correctly but I just wish we'd had the chance to find out. It's just disappointing to end a game and be so upset at decisions like that.

How do you know?

It's not uncommon knowledge in WA. Margetts is WA born and bred, so not hugely unusual for him/his family to barrack for a WA team.

Shouldn't have been umpiring tonight.

You have NFI if you think that the umpiring didn't impact the result. It's not the only thing that matters of course, and I think the better team won FWIW, but some of those calls at critical moments in such a tight game (at the time) - they absolutely matter and Nth were royally screwed.

The umpires were flogs (and the Eagles kicked poorly), but I can't get some of our missed opportunities out of my head. Waite, Drew, Higgins, Ben 10 should have goaled. Ben Brown has been getting tips on marking from Dan Currie. We could have won the ****ing game, despite the ****ing umpires.

And that's the thing ... we're left say "what if" and we shouldn't have to say that. You and the rest of Nth fraternity should be able to say, we gave it our all but we were beaten fair and square by the better team, but those incompetent moments just take that one saving grace in a loss away. Those calls at key moments, they are killers to fans experience. Commiserations guys, I do feel for you.

That umpiring was a frigging disgrace. The eagles might have been good enough to win on their own tonight but the truth is we'll never know.

And yes, we should have won anyway because we butchered plenty of opportunities and fumbled far too much. So we can't just blame the umpiring.

But it was disgraceful. As bad as last night.
