We're playing one of the most in-form and offensive teams of the last 20 years, we need scoring power. Daw's injured, you want to bring in McKay or Larkey to play this Crows team?

We're $6.50 to win, only way we're going to get remotely close to them is to score. Waite, Wood and Brown will need 12 between them. Adelaide will kick 18 goals minimum.

Surely then, if it's a long shot we're going to win anyway, we should be resting Waite until he's 100% cherry ripe? Why risk him for a trip over to Tazzie, to play him in the 9-degree weather when we can rest him for another week and get him right to smack the Swans around at Etihad on the Sunday arvo?!

Is Josh Williams any sort of dark horse chance of debuting? I'm sure I've seen/heard his name pop up in various media over the last few days and the article in todays Herald Sun has me triggered. 17 touches and a goal in the VFL, maybe we could give him a taste should Simpkin get a rest weekend (the realist in me says we can't win and probably don't want to win).

Nah.

Mountford, Clarke and Wagner are far more deserving of a crack and all would deliver more if called upon.

I concur, I just thought it was odd to hear his name pop up a few times this week and I very well may have dreamed a couple of those.

Yeah, well he did have his best game so far on the weekend...

Good. He's performed well above expectations. I thought he'd be another brad mckenzie scenario (too thin see you in 3 years). Promising that he's already performing in the VFL.

His form for Werribee so far - 4 eff kicks 4 eff handballs v Geelong, 1 eff kick 7 eff handballs v Footscray, 1 eff kick 6 eff handballs v Essendon.

Why all the love for Mountford? I haven't seen his games, but it looked too small at AFL level to do any damage in the midfield. He only got 20 touches didn't he in the VFL? He's not exactly smashing the door down with 30+ touches.

Is it wrong that I'd almost be annoyed if we knocked over Adelaide after dropping Geelong, Fremantle & WB games...?

It will turn the entire year into a "what could have been" exercise.

I did say almost. Would still love to upset their apple cart and any good win makes us more attractive in a year that is mostly about attracting and developing talent.

You're a North Melbourne supporter and yet you believe that being small means you can't have an impact in the midfield?

Did you happen to miss 432 games in the last couple of decades?

There's your point of difference, right there.

(Sorry, King Corey, couldn't resist.)

It would just show good development, no?

Consistently in the bests, works his arse off in the contest, tackles like a maniac, gets from contest to outside option better than just about any other mid at Werribee, is fit as ****, has a good turn of speed and is physically well developed. To top it off he is a smart football who plays to his limitations.

Mountford will never be a star but he could very well be a good rotation mid who can play inside and out.

I was, for sure.

Where would you look to for a top Cab Sav: Coonawarra? McLaren Vale maybe?

(I like them from there too.)
Those two + Margaret River are traditionally thought of as the best Cab Sav regions in Aus, with Coonawarra clearly top. I've never thought of them as being as diverse as say, Barossa vs Grampians vs Heathcote vs Rutherglen vs Yarra Valley vs Hunter Valley are for Shiraz though.

In : waite and ???

Out: mullet ,Simpkin

Must say again am not happy Waite is in, at 1-5 and we rush back in a 34 yr old. Cannot see the reason why?
Because he's our best forward, Brown would be towelled up by Talia & co as #1, McKay isn't ready, Maj isn't fit, ...
I'm fine with him playing as long as he's fit and in form to provide structure and support.

I still reckon we can go in with Brown + Waite + Maj + Wood if we want to.

Watch the 2nd quarter of the Hawks pre season game, clean and speed from clearances and accurate disposal. Unlike Clarke, usually has a job to do as well as general play
