Sure was, however the question still remains.

Given we have hit the reset button, and given Jacobs covered deficiencies in our midfield when pushing for a flag, is it still a good idea to use a player for a role that, if we are serious about developing a proper, well rounded midfield, we shouldn't necessarily want to have? This wouldn't be a question if he was able to have an impact both ways when hard tagging. Do we really want to have a guy that is primarily just a shut down player who cannot impact with ball in hand?

Ultimately I would hope not and would like to see Jacobs develop the ball carrying side of his game too offset the defensive edge.
I always thought Jacobs was fine at winning his own pill when required, it was his decision making with ball in hand that was an issue. I can remember some 40+ games in the VFL.

I think Benny's biggest issue going forward this season will be his lack of preparation. To tag the best in the game you have to be at your peak endurance wise.

I've heard a lot of him in the A-League and a few AFL games and he's alright. Not great, but he doesn't really have an ego and comes across as a genuine sport fan.

There's just something about the tone of his voice that annoys me a little, but that's just me.

Yeah i'm the same. Not great but would rather he than a BT or Basil type... He did A League, AFL and NRL last week, so is obviously a bit of an all rounder.

Corey....you just dont like Waite cause its pretty easy to read last week we struggled without a second tall until Hansen went up there.
Also Brown will be up against arguably the best key defender in Talia who has Lever to help out. These 2 are on another planet compared with Jack Leslie.

Jy Simpkin (managed) and Aaron Mullett (hand) come out of the side that defeated the Suns last week with Braydon Preuss, Corey Wagner and Declan Mountford listed as emergencies.

B: Marley Williams, Robbie Tarrant, Ed Vickers-Willis
HB: Lachlan Hansen, Scott Thompson, Jamie Macmillan
C: Nathan Hrovat, Ben Cunnington, Kayne Turner
HF: Taylor Garner, Ben Brown, Mason Wood
F: Jed Anderson, Jarrad Waite, Shaun Higgins
Fol: Todd Goldstein, Jack Ziebell, Sam Gibson
Int: Luke McDonald, Ryan Clarke, Trent Dumont, Shaun Atley
Emer: Braydon Preuss, Corey Wagner, Declan Mountford

In: Jarrad Waite, Ryan Clarke
Out: Aaron Mullett (hand), Jy Simpkin (managed)

Wagner is close to it. Good changes and I hope Simpkin comes back with a vengeance. Need his attitude in more players.

Could be a close one or a massive flogging depending upon who is switched on. Would imagine Waite is one injury from retiring but he is crucial to our structures until Daw, McKay, Zurhaar or Preuss can comfortably fill that FF position.

Thursday nights are a bit boring around here without Swallow and Thomas in the team.
As much as I'm happy for LT to force his way back into the team, it's probably telling neither of them occurred to me until you mentioned them. Glad Lindsay isn't straight back in, as much for the message it sends to the rest of the team as anything. We don't want the omission of them both to be a token gesture which I think a 'straight back in' approach would signal.
