Through mates and family members CC. If you were as knowledgable as you claim you would know that or work out the links.

Caulfield will be competitive, still a lot of inexperienced players.

wow, such ground breaking recruiting processes.:eek:

I know how and also why Keno:p:heart::club::spade::diamond:.

cheers

the a and b rep squad been named yet? just a word of advice the efl side will smash you.

After today result does anyone think we will hear from Helicopter anytime soon? I really hope not.

VAFA 11.16 .82 - EFL 10.10.70

EFL is a very strong and well-run competition. Any astute and knowledgeable EFL observer would understand the strength of the VAFA and pay them due respect. Doubt any would jump on a VAFA board an ‘trash talk’ either

Seems Mr Helicopter is neither astute nor knowledgeable.

Congrats to the VAFA on their win today.

As for 650k.. while i have no idea what players get paid, thats around 30k a player. Sounds a little high to me (don't doubt there all on good money though).

MERCENARY:
a person who takes part in conflict, who is not a loyalist to the conflict, and is "motivated to take part in the hostilities essentially by the desire for private gain, currency or greed and, in fact, is promised, by or on behalf of a party to the conflict, material compensation substantially.

Imagine all those sponsorship volunteers working their butts off to bring money into their club so they can pay players that quite basically are just plain old mercanary's. As the great A.Jeans said about sausages, you can boil them, BBQ 'em Bake em but end of the day they are a sausage.

What is money in suburban football - it is ego money, "my 'wad' is bigger than yours".

So when an Ammo side beats a $650k job, one wonders how much money is truly going out of the development of football.

There should be a referendum by the AFL to have all leagues ammo status and then see the difference and great 'wads' of $$ being ploughed back into facilities, equipment, coaches, trainers etc etc. So the poor old sponsorhip or president when chasing $$$ does it for the long term benefit of every club and football. How many clubs would still be alive now if Vic footy was ammo all through.

Good luck to EDFL, SFL etc etc in chasing $$ to pay your shite mercanary's who cant even beat a team of ammos.

Old Trinity played against Bell Park yesterday. The game was played at Bell Park and they won comfortably by 50 odd points. OT's had a few players out however.

Knowledgeable? All regulars know that what Crazio doesn't get from the internet he makes up.

Still laughing at the barely comprehensible rant which has me as a Rover. Apparently in his little world everyone who has twigged he's a troll is from HR. Go figure.

Good to see the Rovers no longer take the troll bait.:thumbsu:

Great to see the vafa win yesterday however two points which i must bring to attention. I was extremely disappointed in the omission of Ben Corin. Selectors must lift. I also thought both leagues decided on not playing guys who had only just signed over into the respective competition. Last time i checked Matt Firman and Rimmington had never played an ammo game.

Some sage Observations there warrior...vafa couldn't resist slipping in an ex vfl captain and sanfl premiership player in firman and rimington. Pretty sure Heath black, jarrod Dalton, Kris height and the majority of balwyn's cashed up signings would have helped...besides, nobs haven't been in a or b since pope Benedict was in the hitler youth...so how can firman be justified?!?

Sorry to ruin your discussion lads but there was a 2 player policy. I don't know who the 2 EFL blokes were but let's be honest, if Uni Blues had let their players compete the VAFA would have won by another 5 goals, so its all relative.
Bottom line is the EFL are a bunch of hired guns who will belt each other during the season whereas the VAFA is a clean skin comp full of guys who always have a beer after the game.
On a side note it was pretty poor of the EFL supporters to be abusing the VAFA coaching staff throughout the game, they went very quiet though in the last 5 minutes.....

EFL had no problem with Aaron Fiora suiting up yesterday. He played all of 2011 in the Western Border League.

A and B sides have never been restricted to A and B,it is just a designation to separate from the C-D side. Some of the great A/B big V players have come from lower grades .
As BS said, each side had 2 who didnt play last year, so i all is fair. Pretty sure you have hailed from Old Carey in the past. What has precipitated your switch to the dark side? Chasing money?

Ha ha freebaser, you are an observant one! Yes, I have hailed from Carey in the recent past, and yeah I am now in the efl. Chasing cash I wish! I left for other reasons however wish the boys all the best this year and beyond. Wasn't meaning to pot anyone, and cheers to you and bs for pointing out the 2 player rule. From all reports it was a decent game - missed it as was playing a praccy myself!

Well spotted freebaser.

Seem to recall when Hampton Rovers and St. Bedes Mentone were in C Grade that they'd have 2 or more in the state side just a few years ago.

How was your afternoon Helicopter? Another loss by the highly paid EFL team. One of the EFL Presidents I spoke with said the EFL team was worth around $650K today....hmmmmmmmm

Brian,
Yes it was a good win against arguably the Best competition in the State, however your continual taunting regarding money is really tiresome. The Ammo's have more than their fair share of mercenaries participating so please give it a break.Your hypocracy has no bounds.

I totally agree, ammos is chock full of mercenaries. All the top APS and grammer schools old boys sides pay players in some form or another. the idea there is an 'integrity officer' is laughable. Even look down in c grade where old camberwell have had the following players play in the last few years. Kent Kingsley, mark williams, rory hilton .etc. Are you telling me they are playing just for fun?

Bit of an exaggeration there GY. The council actually gave it the OK but the club being conservative to enure that it is 100% for round 1. Surface is fine but some of the strips where they laid the pipes have sunk. Those strips backfilled with sand to level the surface. Rather than doing it 2 months ago they did it Thursday! A fair chance to play the final practice game on the 14th at DB but will be definitely be ready by round 1.

Thankyou for clearing that up, whispers regarding grounds seem to echo in the hollow hallways of Malvern Town Hall.

It would be a travisty if "A" section football had to be played at Basil Bay.

Onwards to round 1

I know this is a strange concept that some people who are involved in surburan comps cannot grasp, but there are actually some very, very good footballers around that are happy playing for nothing, aka fun!!

Are you talking about Waverley Oval? I drove past last week and it looked more like a portion of St.Kilda beach than a football ground. What have the council done to it? Where would De La play if it was unavailable early in the year?

Rooster24 is the De La oracle but I was surprised to see the council doing drainage works so close to the season starting. It wasn't as bad as you say when I saw it but this close to the start of the season...........

The drainage works (long overdue) actually occurred last year. Problem as I understand it was that the soil where the pipes were laid had sunk slightly – a normal occurrence for these events I’m told. However instead of backfilling in Jan or Feb they did it in March. Only a very small portion of the ground affected – i.e. a few strips about a foot wide. Probably looked worse than what it was as the council spread a fairly liberal dose of sand around.

I understand that the club have been given the nod to return next week and that the schedule practice games for the 14th are definitely being played at the ‘Bell’ so round 1 a certainty. Seems the decision by the club to move the practice games last week was a smart one.
