Thanx Pazza. Pretty good effort by OCG all things considered.
Was talking to officials from both sides before the match and both teams were quite young going in. Pretty hard to gauge how both will go given the conditions and the lack of preparation.

continued..... the rewards should be for the clubs whose committees and players build a true culture and strong values within the club environment and operate truly within the VAFA rules. Not the clubs who take the scum approach and win a flag and before u know it they have slipped a grade two quickly because the effort cannot be sustained.

Galloping, the rules relating to the recruiting of players from professional competitions were gradualy relaxed over a period of time and were totalling deleted about seven years ago and replaced with the existing arrangement, recruit from any competition so long as the player plays an amateur. This is really what the clubs at the time wanted and the vote to change the rule was all but unanimous. The rule change also reflected changing community standards.
Was it a coincidence that the SA and WA Amateurs started to field ex Afl WAFL and SANFL players in Amateur Carnival sides and started beating the VAFA???
I think not - VAFA changed largely to keep on top of their interstate mates!

The VAFA has a history of paying sides coming in and running out of money. St Pius in the 80s were one b/c I was there. Into VAFA 1979 F Grade - Premiers Promoted 1980 and 82 -1983 third C grade - 1984 No money - no players so we disbanded after Committee couldn't come up with the bikkies about round 5?Galloping, the rules relating to the recruiting of players from professional competitions were gradualy relaxed over a period of time and were totalling deleted about seven years ago and replaced with the existing arrangement, recruit from any competition so long as the player plays an amateur. Which VAFA clubs did we then go to for cash - you guessed it! They are still in A/B/C now!

Posts that long should be illegal. Would love some inside gossip from xavs if anyone has any. Uni Blues and Collegians both recruited well to cap already strong lists and it sounds like they are plugging along nicely. Xavs quietly going about their business, not many transfers on vafa.com yet. Take absolutely nothing from that praccy match result or any other for that matter
You are probably correct about St Pius. Korvette Stores were connected with St Pius when the club folded. The VAFA has a history of paying sides coming in and running out of money. Are you prepared to name the clubs who you say are still in A/B/C?

There's been quite a bit of scuttlebutt floating around about Carey but not much about Caulfield. Who have they secured to boost their ranks?Don't know about Xavs but Caulfield and Carey look to be putting together some very strong lists. Any news from OT?
CC, you seem to post a lot about troll's. What are they?your kidding.

I know this is a strange concept that some people who are involved in surburan comps cannot grasp, but there are actually some very, very good footballers around that are happy playing for nothing, aka fun!!

Thanks for the Additional Info No 31 - I doubt CC Uncle Sorbent would understand how Korvette Stores were connected with St Pius & underpinned the club?? Didn't realise that naming my own club was not backing up my statement! Basically the Catholic trail was where a majority went. Try Therry for a start & yes some to NOBS [Cryptic - burnt wood] + yes one to St Kevs. Next you will want names & addresses!
I really think that you should be the one answering posters - numerous times you have avided the questions Sorbent.

The AAFC changed the definition of an 'amateur footballer' in 1977, bit hard to accuse the VAFA of the reason you suggested as all states could make their own reinstatement guidelines after this date. Maybe the VAFAs reinstatement guidelines were broader than the other states!
your kidding.

I worked with a guy who played with St Pius and he told me a bit about Korvette Stores and St Pius. This guy also suggested that St Pius went 'professional' too soon afer joining the VAFA.
Thought I’d bump this one Freebaser. Someone butted in with a post full of useless general info that left us none the wiser. Who are the additions to the Carey list you think will give them more on-field oomph this year? Apart from Damien Yze.Don't know about Xavs but Caulfield and Carey look to be putting together some very strong lists. Any news from OT?
