Taft, Sautner, Dixon and Ferguson missing from the Lion's forward line alone from what I could see. No wonder they didn't kick straight. It's a credit to the Lion's depth that they won with the number of outs they had.
Penski, true but panthers without Parton, Peterson Laidlaw, Joslin to name a few of the top of my
Head. All teams have players missing which is
a pity because it is the best comp around.
Ladder starting to form but still so close.

Congratulations are in order for The Beacon, who is on track for the Mr Consistency prize...
and No 31 who, if he hadn't missed a couple of rounds, could very well be in the lead!

Can Nick Sautner or anyone else catch Ramsden for the goal kicking award? It is not uncommon for sautner to kick 10+ goals in a game.

Really? Thats a big ask for 2 reasons

1 - It's away and the DLS ground is pretty small
2 - Carey are not good

I like his tip, Carey beat De La twice last year, and De La play a very similar game to Collegians who Carey went down to by a point last week. Im not sure the Carey are not good is an accurate statement, but we shall see.

I notice Ian Prendergast's name finally appearing in the clearances from the EFL to Uni Blues. I assume that means he will be pulling on the boots in the next round or two.

That is true but Carey are not playing at the same level this year they were last year (yet)

The only upset I can see happening is Trinity beating the horses hoofs

I can understand it. De La probably due for a loss and not playing that well if last week is anything to go by. Saying that; i am tipping them.

Scotch
Xavs
Collegians
Blues
De La

40 shots on goals to 12. Only inaccuracy prevented a blow out. They won by 58 points against a team coming off 2 wins in a row. The week before they won by 100 points. Would hate to have seen those results if they were playing well then. Think they are travelling ok all things considered. They still have quite a few players to return so should be even better in the second half of the year.

Carey has too much quality in their team not to be a chance and is capable of beating anyone but will need to play well to get the points this week.

I have only watched one game this year and it was on the weekend as I always watch the A Grade Sunday game. I thought they were very average until the last quarter against very ordinary opposition, admittedly they did win by 10 goals however there was a whole heap of junk time going on. They are still a fair way away from Xavier and Collegians; have seen two games from these clubs and they seem to be travelling a touch better.

Really need to get over Carey tomorrow before they can think to far ahead as Carey had the wood last year. Probably fair enough comment and I think most would agree that Collegians and Xavs the best two teams going around however risky to make assumptions on how a team is travelling based on seeing them once. 40 shots on goal to 12 and a thumping win the week before would suggest they are maybe better than average and not as far behind the others as you think. Only lost to Colls by 8 points at the Trott and generally fair well against the Xavs. Agree the opposition were ordinary last week but credit to De La who hardly gave them a sniff. 18 points down 20 minutes into the third and to win by 10 goals suggests they have a bit to work with.

Old Trinity v Old Scotch - Should be a good game and if Scotch don't stamp themselves on the contest early, watch out.
Caulfield v Xavs - Completely biased tip and no form to justify it. Footy is funny game sometimes.
Collegians v St Bernards - Too good.
Uni Blues v SBMT - SBMT are travelling only marginally better than Caulfield.
De La Salle v Old Carey - New season, new players, every contest is different. The home side will get it done.

Tipping favourites in A section amateurs won't get you far. I'm going to do it anyway.

Scotch
Xavs
Collegians
Uni
De La (Match of the round)

OS - Going along nicely
OX - Is "B" grade calling for the boys from the racetrack???
Coll - Clearly the best team in the comp
Uni - Under the spires, rarely lose
DLS - Frankie Pickett to kick a bag
