in the vein of the old Kiss of Death

Will be interesting seeing all the big "ins" this week. Has the arrival of Geappen at the Blues flown under the radar or one of their injured recruits?

Blacks - Maybe more desperate for early wins than Colls. Only a feeling. 2-3 goals.
OT - In a trouncing
Xavs - Their "ins" are too much for St Bernies "outs". Less than 2 kicks in it though
SKOB - Kick out to an early lead with De La to almost reel them in. No doubt a De La player will be carded somewhere and "cost" them the game...
Blues - In a trouncing

Is it true the De la Salle team that won the Under 19 premiership in 2009 are forming a guard of honour for Jon Edgar before the game ? Heard it on the grapevine

I've heard the same 'sceptic tank' also heard that Lachlan Nankervis goes alright. Athletic, agile, strong in the air and on the ground. Draws comparisons to that of Jake Stringer. Definitely one to look out for this year in Premier Division. The mans a real dark horse

Nankervis starting FF tomorrow, expect a bag from the big fella !

VAFA site performing poorly again on the eve of round 1.

Trinity 41 points
Collegians 31 points
Xavs 16 points
Blues 54 points
SKOB 29 points

Yep re Trinity Carey. Was told Carey have brought in a lot of unders to cover the off season big prize losses. Plus Sloan, Reid, Crozier and Smithwick all out injured. Team will be unrecognisable. Would be lucky to beat Kew or Ormond this year.
Snowdogs have loaded up with stars not playing VFL. Match of the day at the pit. Xavs are ready, but will be close.
SKOB by plenty. WOW!! Do yourself a favour and jump on the VAFA website post game, if it's working of course, and read a who's who. Have imported well. Really well.
Blacks v Purples is a toss of the coin. Not much to like about either of them IMO.
Spies tell me the Gleeson curse has struck again. It's like his parents walked under a ladder and over a black cat on the way to the hospital before Mrs gave birth. These two events led to two shocking consequences. Firstly his parents choice of a Christian name, and now secondly lots of injuries when he became a senior coach. This will even things up...but fortunately for him and white picket lovers everywhere, they only face the Grammar Goons from Gazman. Blues.

Looks like a good first up outing for the boys from Waverley Road. Also saved my tipping from being in the scheizenhouse.

After OT, I'll make them my second team - going about winning VAFA footy in the best possible way.

Great away win by De La. When they start to get rolling they have to be seriously considered for the flag especially after the form they showed late last season.

Funny how so many supposed experts on here don't rate them.

It will take a while for StKOBS to gel no matter how good they have imported in.

I hate SKOBS so beating them at St Kevin's is a great way to start the season.

4/5 for me.
Didn't disrespect DLS. Just thought with SKOB importing policy they were a monty.
Bernies showed in the 3rd today that they will be good. Xavs controlled tempo for majority.
OM's did better than I thought.
Perhaps they can finish above Carey and Wesley.

Yes you did mate – trawl back over some of your recent work that includes
“You will smash DLS”. And then today “SKOBs by plenty”

Reasonable to suggest that SKOBs may have saluted – they are a quality side and will be there when the whips are cracking but surely against at hardened ‘A” grade team who played finals last season the words “smash” and "by plenty" were a bit extravagant. Not as bad however as the clown who tipped SKOBs to win by 130!

Was a brilliant game at T.H King. SKOBs are a seriously good side and threw everything at the visitors but De La found a way and ground out an fantastic win. They are made of pretty stern stuff the Bellers.

Chillax. It was all about SKOB and a bit of fun. Could have been playing anyone.

Chillax. Just reminding of you that sometimes such extravagant comments can come back and bite.

Did you get to the pit? The OX team on paper looked absolutely scary strong.

Yep. Early days, but Xavs will be good this year.
As I said, nothing but a bit of fun. My SKOB pump up is pure silliness. $1.03. C'mon.

Yep wind em out to $1.10 now. In all seriousness SKOBs were impressive today and have some very talented players.

For OX to dismantle the reigning premiers like that at the pit suggests they will be more than good.

The reigning premiers not quite as strong as last season and OX have taken big steps forward. I dont know that the result was a surprise to anyone but Bernies supporters. Blus and OMs close but more due to Blues injuries in my opinion. Nothing from the round changed my view of the relegation battle. Carey in trouble, then Blacks, Lions and OMs duking it out for the other spot.
