Wont happen in the next year or two obviously, but inside 10 not out of the question....Everyone is driving for success and its being demanded of them to succeed...

Put it this way...its a perfect segway to VFL/AFL coaching employment for future aspirants who desire it as a career.

Think about it......

I was recently speaking to a B Grade coach and I was actually shocked to hear how much work they put in. He said that he was doing about 2 hours of football related work each night, coupled with getting home at 9pm on a Tues and 10pm on a Thursday. He would estimate that he would commit 25 hours a week to football - and would do more if he had the time. Reviewing games, player reviews, opposition analysis, phone conversations - it wouldn't surprise me if clubs hired full time coaches in the near future.
How much would a coach expect to get going full time, 100K, $125K or 150k? Plus Super and all the other benefits of employment. I couldn't see anyone doing it for less. Is it foreseeable that clubs can raise that kind of money??

Gus Locke. Big bodied Midfielder from Uni Blacks moving away next year. big loss huge pick up for which ever club picks him up. heard a job offer and big $$$ at Goorambat

Blacks might struggle to fill a side this year. On top of names already mentioned, Pattison, Mahon, Foster, Thomas, Napier and O'Brien all gone.

De La has put out on their social media pages that Damien Rayson is returning to the club in 2016. According to the release he played 80 plus games of VFL seniors and came 2nd in Coburg B&F one year. I remember him making an impression in ‘A’ grade a few years back before moving onto bigger things.

Similar statement regarding Sam Pickett returning a few weeks back. Seriously good player so a couple of reasonable early inclusions for the bellers.

Could someone explain to me what the points system that AFL Victoria is introducing in 2016 for clubs wanting to recruit/retain players?

News from the Nursery on the weekend:
1. Uni Blacks are definitely losing a handful of more than handy types. (likely finish 7 - 10)
2. Carey in all sorts of trouble - No Howat, Rowe and possibly more.(spoon)
3. Collegians looking to land some big fish but if unsuccessful may struggle with a young list devoid of Taft, Holst, Jorgenson(7-10)
4. De La up and about with list from 2015 in tact plus the prodigal sons of Picket, Rayson and Williams to return(finals)
5. Trinity much of a muchness in 2016 (finals)
6. Old Melb trying extremely hard to improve list and may have some announcements this week.(7-10)
7. SKOB very quite, where is Brian!(finals)
8. Old Xavs reeling after last weeks bad press.(4-6)
9. Uni Blues expect to be better despite the loss of Watts and Summers(4-6)
10. St Bernards - no news as I was in the Nursery and didn't venture out into the public areas.(finals)

Cox has accepted senior assistant job at Marcellin.

There's more than meets the eye . . .

Don't think there is. He 100% wasn't asked to leave.
I think he just wants a job that takes up 10 not 25 hours a week.
Young fam and growing business.

You blokes need a reality check. I believe the only full time paid role in Ammo club land is Xavs GM of their Footy club. And he has office space supplied by the school. Great set up by a well resourced club. Full time coaches in VAFA footy - no way IMO. Anyone suggesting that (1) believes the tripe bandied about re A grade coaches salaries (2) has no idea of the p&l of a VAFA footy club, and (3) does not understand that, despite how good our comp is, it remains an amateur pursuit. Full time coaches and the salary that implies just will not work economically for any club.

Agreed. You find that coaches do do 20 hours plus a week (like away from fam) but a lot doesnt impact on normal job. 3 hours Tues, 4 hours Thurs both after work. 7 hours Sat and then maybe 1-5 thinking about it...it's a drug that can drive you crazy.
But no full time gig.

Clearly never coached before (which is fine). But don't underestimate all the time you don't see personally. Ask any coach how much time he/she dedicates a week to game vision from weekend, game vision from upcoming opposition, talking to players about past week and coming week, injuries, availability, life in general, planning drills, planning game-day, talking to assistant coaches, exec committee via email/phone/text/in person.

1-5? Any (decent) coach would be doing that a day and some.

Agreed. In my experience it's the assistant coaches that can be doing between about 12-20 hours per week (including training and match day). The senior coach tends to do a lot more than that, especially when you throw in the amount of time spent recruiting/networking. That's a never-ending task for senior coaches.
