This was Uni Oval a month ago. It was even worse a fortnight earlier when De La played Blacks. Not a murmur about inspections, safety of players or moving the game. I suspect the ground is in far better nick now then what is was then. One rule for some and a different rules for others. once again a complete lack of consistency from HQ.

Carey lost 4 players and hit up the VAFA hard to ensure no future games on the Uni Oval were played this year. President Newton from Carey was as angry as a peice of rope tied to a bull. Seems the departing Carey have some good pull. Well done to them for following it through.

Do you know if those oppo clubs did anything to seek a re-location?

Canada, OM's didn't play Blacks last week. Please don't pretend like Xavier didn't call for the game to be relocated.

I'm not saying that Carey didn't lodge a complaint, of that I have no idea.

What I do know is that Xavier pushed the VAFA hard on this and this was the reason the game was moved.

Any other time any other club has raised the issue to the VAFA, it's always been met with a shrug of the shoulders... until this week.

Mistaken then. I didn't hear the start of the convo but Kanis on radio said it gathered big momentum from blacks game last week.
Anyway, much better ground they played on today so everyone's a winner.
I have a match report coming through from a junior assistant I sent down. So stay tuned.

As a former ACC participant, I just want to give a shout out to all the lads from the Pit tonight.

Sounds like the $75k was money well spent on your super coach (whom I read has kindly offered not to abandon the club after leading it to Premier B for 2017.

Must be the biggest waste of money in the history of the VAFA.

How embarassment

Heard Kanas on radio today say OM's Prez who has a link with VAFA head office was very influential after last weeks OM's v Blacks game.

That’s not what Kanis said Canada. He made no mention of OMs and they have nothing whatsoever to do with it. He said that Blues were ropeable that the ground is the best condition it has been for 3 months and all of a sudden they are forced to give up a home ground advantage in a game that may well decide the double chance.

He also said that Blues seriously considered giving a forfeit as a protest. While in my view that is over reaction, that is the level of anger they felt about this.

Its a farce and the people at HQ should (once again) hang their heads in shame. Not that the game was moved but that they didn’t have the guts to do it 2 months ago when the ground was in far worse condition.

Hi all,
Sent down a junior assistant to watch the big 1 v 3 clash at the new home of Uni football (thanks to Carey and others)
Cheers Canada..

'Massive game with a huge edge to it. Coach Q-Ball was very deliberate in his pregame message. They put us here. They didn't want to play at the Uni. Let's tare them a new one.
Whilst the coach combine were a little more restrained talking match ups and KPI's.
An even battle in the middle but Xavs defence resolute. Dynon, Wynne and Clay like a wall.
Xavs far more polished. Handley back to his brutal big marking best.
A lot of feeling. Blues seemed to enjoy the push and shove after the ball left the area. Number 6 reported. Will miss first final. Number 4 a loose cannon. Carried on like a pork chop. Blues players had to restrain him in the 4th as he wanted to fight anyone. Discipline issues perhaps set to ruin a good season? Time will tell.
Can't see Blues troubling Xavs if today's match any indication. Thanks.

Interesting report. Seemed like a spiteful game. Cheers Canada.

Kanis said on 96.5 at around 1.50pm that this issue gathered momentum during the week when a powerbroker at, I thought he said OM's but I must be wrong who has a connection with VAFA head office, pushed for this. He then said Xavs jumped on the bandwagon.
Kanis was clear when he said this. He insinuated Xavs pushed the agenda, but the agenda came from others first up.
Personally I'm just glad the game was played on a decent oval.
Games should have been removed from the Uni months ago.
It's up to Uni clubs to bring it up to speed. Not cry when people don't want to play on it.

looks like old Xavs are going ok - when spectators start complaining about our off-field influence, you know things are going ok. Kanis has whinged about Old Xavs since Adam was a boy (Kanis was in the Unders then).

Would have been nice if Bernies completed their comeback against Blacks. A relegation game was almost on. Bernard's will be missed in A grade.

If you think Blues and Blacks have any control of that ground, you're kidding yourself Canada. The clubs are only allowed to train on with permission from the University.

Similar to AFL clubs. The pies home ground is the MCG. How much say do they have in how it's run, managed and operated, ZILCH

Fair enough. But they can still not cry when teams don't want to play there. It's a shocker. An absolute disgrace. I remember watching both teams play at some other ground near the zoo, after I think a Uni player got a serious infection from the ground.
So the claret and stout were the first lucky team to play away. Good for them. How do you think Carey feel about starting 2017 with two players set to miss the year because of that oval??

Fwiw... A couple of renowned Oggers who are legal eagles inform me a legal letter may have landed on shollys desk from a certain Aps club about playing at the uni

How did Whitefriars go today? Oh that's right, beaten by a struggling NOB's.

I bow to your better information source Hedgey. However, I do find it hard to believe any VAFA club would fork out $75k for a coach. Particularly one who sought the job.

No need for the subterfuge Canada. We are all cognisant of your association with the claret and stout and that you follow them wherever they play.

We were absolutely shit Brian.

We finished 7th, remain in our grade for next season.

Exactly the same as SKOBs (except you're safe now in 8th).

We just don't spend a king's ransom in coaches, or players.

Big Silly Sunday coming up, as long as I don't fall asleep in the next 18 hours....

They're still hungover from beating your mob after your choke of the 21st century last year.
Our choke? I'm definitely not an oms man. I'm just enjoying seeing the skob strategy of buying whatever you can not work. Whilst plenty of strong A grade clubs who have been here for a long period without using your tactics...pal.

Buying? Please explain? And 6 out of 7 of your posts are about SKOB, pretty easy to read your history.
FYI, we played 5 non SKC boys today, Blues played 6 non Uni boys and Blacks 8, so what's your point?

I was told tonight by a very reliable source that Bernies paid their coach this year no more than 30K, they paid a little more for Rock last year but he was awarded a bonus for winning the flag. I don't think even the richest EFL or EDFL clubs could afford to pay any coach north of 50K.
