See Tim Allan has headed to the country.

Yep the lure of the almighty $. Is playing at Echuca and has gone with a few others who spent some time at Ormond along the journey. Only played a handful of VAFA games over the years and was injured most of 2016.

Tim Allen played his whole juniors , 19's and a senior flag at Ormond. He's as much De La as i am. He hated it there

Decent backhander there Bedford and not sure it is entirely fair or necessary! That is not the feedback he gave when he departed for the bush but acknowledge that he is an Ormond product and also that it is extremely tough to embed yourself into a club when you play 6 games over 3 years and don’t train at the club. Not sure that such minimal involvement allows an informed opinion anyway.

Like many from the VFL he found the going in ‘A’ grade a whole lot tougher than he thought it would be. A nice kid and a talented player who will do very well in the bush.

That is a very valid point...AFL players to VAFA, most would think its just a walk in the park. Much to their surprise, it isnt. Invariably they are a waste of time. Sure some good footy, but a short life span...

OS. still working hard to hold Strauss............

He was a VFL player FF. The problem is that they train and are embedded with their VFL team and make occasional appearances with their VAFA aligned club (particularly if established VFL players). They front up Saturday, have a game and then are often not seen again for several months or maybe not until the next season. Is difficult for both player and club. Some do it easily but despite being very talented this lad found the transition difficult and struggled to have an impact in the rare appearances he made over the last 3 seasons. By his own admission he underestimated the quality of ‘A’ grade football.

Hope Strauss does the honorable thing and stays put.

Yeah fare call.......He (Strauss) is an OSC and would be beneficial for all if he stayed. It is just a good look....get some continuity going.
Gives everyone lift from within.....

Well your opening post was wrong, I like your posts so no trouble

Which part was wrong? The part that explained the difficulty in being a VFL player and very occasional VAFA player, thus making if hard to embed yourself at the club. The part that suggested such minimal involvement does not allow an informed opinion to be made or the part that suggested he found it a bit tougher 'A' grade then he might have thought?

The part where you said he'd only played a handful of VAFA games, he played plenty for Ormond

‘A’ grade forum Bedders so reference was obviously to ‘A’ grade games.

And I stand by my comment. Once he went to Port Melbourne he barely played at Ormond. A check of Sporting Pulse for 2011 and 2012 will prove this to be correct.

That's because he did his knee at Fitzroy playing for Ormond. If you check before those years he played all his footy at Ormond and you never mentioned which grade, don't try and get out of it now

Seriously mate what are you on? You have totally lost me. The discussion was about VFL players and the difficulties associated with coming and going from VAFA clubs with specific reference to the last 3 years . I am well aware of this history at Ormond. Obviously you have not bothered to read my original post when I acknowledge that fact.

Surely you can comprehend that due to him being at Port Melbourne in 2011 and 2012 he barely played at Ormond. He can’t be in 2 places at once.

Nobody cares mate
Many do. He was a class player at the Monders and I saw him in one appearance with De La and he was among their best. So I'm not so sure he had trouble adjusting to Prem footy.

Anyway, I hope he finds his way back to VAFA footy at some point cos he can play.

As most of your posts are about or in defence of SKOBs I would suggest that we have you correctly pegged as a SKOBs man!

The number came directly from a SKOBs insider. The number quoted to me was 9 ex AFL players and I have added Strauss to round it off at 10. They had 3 last season so are you suggesting only 2 more in 2016? If so give me your 5.

Surprised that you would single out those Xavs names as at least 3 (and maybe 4) of the 5 are old boys and in any event their top ups never rivalled the number touted to be at SKOBs this year. Plenty of clubs have dabbled with mixed results but never to this extent. My own view is that they will be almost impossible to beat at full strength this year but long term it will do more harm than good. I also believe that they have enough talent already at their disposal to build a sustainable dynasty rather than go after 1 or 2 season wonders.

I guess only time will tell.

Plus Leoncelli, Tuddenham, Buckley played one year - 1995....start of the era hardly the glory years moppet

Not sure why or if you are having a crack at me ST22? I was actually defending the aforementioned as being Old boys and not ring ins!

Jamar and the other 8 top ups for Essendon. Pre season started this week, mid Feb. Wont be playing finals. Season finishes beginning
of Sept. Equals 6 months footy max. Some have kept their day jobs, copping $250,000. for thewir efforts....not a bad gig if you can get it.

Grima has to have wheel chair access.....

Anymore on Strauss FF? Heard that SKOBs are throwing the kitchen sink (and a plenty of vitamin$) at him!

My mail still tells me OS is fighting hard to hold him....jobs etc. Ive heard he is not very bright, which doesnt help. Thats no crime of course as there are plenty of "dumb" players running around playing good footy.
