Only thing I saw was that Old Scotch beat Oms by 39 points. Doesn't really mean much though

Just add Matt Thomas and they are a lot stronger, first praccy matches normally contain half of the guys who haven't missed a session, regardless of ability.
If they're as average as i hear, adding Matt Thomas won't make a lick of difference. We've seen often enough in A grade that one quality footballer added to the mix means nothing. It's the support cast that makes or breaks. It's the lower grades where a gun player can carry a team on their back, but it just doesn't work like that at the top level.

Om's should be reasonable. Very solid midfield. would be up with the best in premier A.

Disagree. Matt Thomas will be just about the top of the tree. He would make a massive difference to any VAFA team. Obviously Pre-season games mean very little in the Ammos given 35 blokes often shuffle through the 1's, (some players get games as a reward for training hard over the summer rather than actual ability.....I know this from personal experience). I would say having seen them in B last year they will struggle mightily if Matt is the only addition. I know they ran St. Kev's close in the big dance however did lack a few key position types and defence leaked scoring shots each time SKOB played them for memory.

Agreed! It's a big step up, and with the improvement of De La and Xavs, as well as the class of SKOBs and Bernards, it could be a long year for OMs and Carey for that matter.

OM's have a great midfield for clearances, but get those blokes onto Trinity's ground and they'll be done after the 1st.
Love the banter. Strong supporter of the VAFA and the OM's with no inside knowledge. Do know that the OM's have built a very strong core after last short stay in A. The 19 =23 group are now 23-27 with lots of games. B grade is certainly not the standard of Premier but there are some very good players and games are tough. Do know that there are some very strong ins . Did watch the grand final and was close game and would imagine OM ins better than StK ins. Matt Thomas would be close to best credentialed player to join the competition. Will combine with Tom Paule and very strong when the VFL players are available. Looking forward to the season

You obviously didn't watch the other two games where they were smashed by 15 goals on both occasions, that's really where they are at.
Here's your round two team, it makes interesting reading.
A lot has been said about Freezer returning, but he played in this game. I hope for your sake you aren't relying on Thomas as SKOB didn't have Gilham and 5 other soon to be premiership players available run out this day.

No doubting St Kevins smashed OMs during the year but come Grand Final day OMs were the better team i believe. Even when you had gilham and 5 others who obviously made your side worse come the granny if you want to base it on scores and what not which you are
Yes St Kevins played poorly but due to OMs immense pressure.
Obviously St Kevins a better side but OMs built incredibly well through out the year and peaked on Grand Final day.
OMs will be competitive dont worry about that
