Big V squad named. As usual noted more for some of the absentees than who is on it. Still, a very strong squad.

No Ben Corin??? Geez the selectors are losing their touch.

In all seriousness really happy for Jack Vickers from De La, just a "2's" player a few years back and now a regular and one of the first picked at De La.

Rooster - surely I'm not off the mark with those comments???

Don’t know when he was just a 2s player GY? Arrived at the club as a kid when the seniors were pretty strong but would not have played more than a handful of reserves games and it would have many years ago. Can't remember him playing ressies this decade!

Fine player and good to see him getting some recognition. The other 3 named are amongst the best handful of players in the comp so he is in good company.

Could be one of the best Big V teams in recent times. If the VAFA don't beat SA by a 10+ goal margin with the squad Victoria has picked and considering the poor standard of SA Amateur football, something must be wrong.

SKOB over Carey by 30pts
Trinity just over Welsey by 10pts
Blues over StBernards by a goal.
Xavs over OM's by 12pts
DLS over Blacks by 8pts.

Tough round to pick.

Looked a bit like the best side would go under at Dairy Bell today. In large part due to a lack of composure in front of goal by the Blacks. Straight kicking and a couple of 50-50 umpiring decisions in front of goal kept the bellers in it. Blacks should have been up by 5 or 6 goals by ½ time.

Both teams had quite a few out. None missed more than number 24 of DeLa who is so important because he gives them first use of the ball and uses his big frame to clear a passage for the smalls.

Ordinary standard of game due to the blustery conditions.

Convincing win by SKOB who we can place back in the frame as serious flag contenders now the power brokers have loaded-up on the very good odds presently on offer at Maplebet. :D

Great win by underrated OM's today None of the 6 VFL listed players available and only 24 player points to OX 45 player points.Cannot remember last win against OX. Anyone remember ?
smoking where can you find out how many points each team gets

huge win by the oms not many saw this coming and first scalp for the year with previous wins coming against the three bottom sides

If you go to the Results and then ‘Match Centre’. The tab across the top third from left has Player Points. It says Xavs was 45 but they have allocated 6 to Marcus Allan, which is incorrect.

Has been 9 years since he played in the AFL and about 8 since he played in the WAFL. While he did not attend Xavier College based on seasons of service reductions he would surely now be a 1 pointer.

Seems it defaults to 6 unless changed manually.

SKOB to win it.
Bail, Strauss, Gysberts, Gilham, Solopek all playing and will continue to.
Spring heeled Williams is a gun. Lynch, Gleeson, Jones, Wood...
List goes on and on.
Maplebet may need to close after this season.

Didn't see that player points tab there before. Interesting looking at the points totals from the weekends games: -

Old Carey - 25
SKOB - 40
Coll - 24
OT - 24
Blues - 29
St Bernards - 22
OM - 24
OX - 45
Blacks - 26
DLS - 23

Only two teams over 30 points. Not sure if the points listed are 100% correct. Can someone confirm?

I think SKOB should be 38 yesterday, but it's neither here nor there. Interesting to note some of the teams in lower grades in the mid to high thirties.

The Uni teams are interesting, a lot of blokes who would be 6 pointers if playing at another VAFA club, so it's a little bit of a strange system.

How do you make that Brian? Not having a go just interested to see what you mean?
