It was all Top 4 up until 2006 when the EFL started buggering around with bigger finals series as a result of Div 1 going to 12 clubs.

Since then, 68 finals series across all divisions. The top team has won the flag...

Top 6: 0/2 (0%)
Top 5: 20/34 (59%)
Top 4: 25/32 (78%)

I think that tells the story... the top team has shown themselves all year to be the best and for them to only win a flag 59% of the time is a bit of a pisstake imo... the Top 5 is a really flawed system that saddles the minor premier with huge disruptions.

Couldn’t agree more seen it in the afl with the extra bye continuity is so important in football!! But bunk as always you summed it up perfectly top 5 is extra $$$$ for the league!!!

Great game out at East Ringwood v Blackburn. Burners were very impressive. Geez they have some speed across all thirds of the ground. Now a game clear on top. Hopefully these 2 teams face off in the GF.
Blackburn has the easy run home from here. Whereas ER has Balwyn and Rowville still to play.

Was also at this game and what a great day it was. Great weather and great hard fought footy. Blackburn had too much class in the second half although ER got to within 4 points late in the last quarter. Good to see the players flying for marks in the sunny and dry weather! One player for Blackburn (number 16) tried for the 'mark of the century' late in the last but just couldn't hold it. I took my camcorder with me and recorded the last half. Will upload to YouTube tonight and share the link on this forum.

Daniel Wood is 16 for Blacky, tried about 3 or 4 times yesterday to top his mark of the century from last month.

I see Blackburn had Dan McKenzie and Jake Hammond in the 2s yesterday and 1 or 2 on VFL duties so they’re going to be hard to be beat.

Slo-mo video from the East Ringwood V Blackburn Seniors, Reserves and U19.5s games from last Saturday. Taken with my iPhone 14.

East Ringwood were clear premiership favourites a few weeks ago and now look an absolute rabble! (Yes, I use the exclamation mark with purpose) They could not even beat the 8th-placed Vermont today at their home ground. Already announced the coach is leaving, and the players seem uninterested and uncommitted. What has gone wrong?
They should have won the premiership last year but just gave up in the GF. This year they seem to have given up before finals. Culture problem?

They did not give up in the grand final, that’s a load of shit. Vermont came to play and the backline stood up big time
They should have won the GF last year. They totally gave up. I just don't think they have the mental nous. Seem incredibly weak mentally. With their team, they should have totally beat Balwyn last year. Mental capitulation?

Very Harsh words about ER they’ll be ok
I just looked at Vermonts team
They had in 4 huge ins Jenkins Buxton Julian Emery they can all play a bit
Saw Donny East beat Rowville was a big win for the club they were challenged multiple times in the last quarter and still got up. How does NP beat Balwyn ??

Ladder positions 4 to 8 separated by 4 points.
4. Row 32, 5. Sth Croy 32, 6. Noble 32, 7. Donc E 28, 8. Ver 28
Some important games over the remaining 2 rounds. Next week. Ver v Sth Croy and Noble v Donc E and in the last round Sth Croy v Noble, Donc E v Black and Ver v Balwyn. Very interesting finish to the season.

Harsh? They finished on top last season three games clear and best percentage by far. It was their's to lose, and they lost it. They started well this year, standout team, and have totally dropped off. I am not being harsh.

You’ve come on here and stated they gave up in a grand final. They were up with 3 minutes to go in that game and pressing at the end. Stop talking out of your arse

It makes zero difference to ER ladder position. From the game I saw last week v Blackburn ER are a very good team. They’ll play off in the GF v Blackburn. Balwyn will lose Durdin to Box Hill duties. However Will Elliot has qualified for finals and kicked 3 yesterday but I don’t think he has the same impact as Durdin.
Wooler kicked 12 for Blackburn and Hammond was back in the team snagged 3. Wood on VFL duties. Wonder if Blackburn will play 3 talls could be massive or a flop.
Crouch playing for Noble is having an impact. Could they win their way through to the GF.

Football isn't for you son. Get off the internet and go to bed
It is news to me that you are my dad (you referred to me as son), but I have taken your advice (I was actually asleep at 8:46 am) but, in addition, had a bex and a good lie down. When I awoke, I checked back through the fixture and saw that East Ringwood were dominate earlier in the season and have since lost to 9th placed Berwick and 8th Vermont.

I hope to continue building an inclusive community with my incisive comments, cos footy is for me too Dad!

Hearing there may have been a few sharp words thrown around the Rowville camp in the wake of Saturday’s loss when they allowed Donc East to run over the top of them. Very unhappy coach and others.

The skipper himself may have been a target after taking a lot of time off this year and perhaps presenting in less than ideal condition 🍕🍔🍟🌭🍻🍻
