Interesting games and scores everywhere. Doncaster East have done it again, they are a laugh a minute this mob… tumble down to 8th, cannot play finals and will finish above only Berwick and Mitcham.

I doubt there is a more incompetent, bigger screw-up of a club ever in local footy, they spend the deficit of a small country on players, stack themselves to the neck with VFL and AFL players, and can’t even play finals.

The people who run this club need to be studied, the amount of money that has been flushed down the toilet for zero return is staggering. Imagine being one of the geese who has tipped in cash.

I know you boys love potting them on here, is this another case of poor junior program not having the kids coming through Beverly Hills football club that makes them have to look down the avenue of recruiting or is there a direct link between the two clubs?

Be shocked if they have re-signed him. Can tell you for a fact that they’ve been making calls to other coaches about next year.

One even copped an initial call from DE at 11am on a Saturday (he’s currently the coach of another club). They were told that perhaps it wasn’t the best time for a chat.

There’s recruiting, and then there’s purchasing a dozen former AFL and VFL players with zero regard for the rules.

The money will get pulled at some stage. It always does. The same will happen at South Belgrave. And they’ll go falling back down the divisions.

Big statement by Blackburn today in their win over Donc E. They were one of the original teams when the EDFL formed in 1962. Could this be the year they win their first Flag in the top division. Growing up in Blackburn I could have easily played there, but a good friend convinced me to play at EB. They came close a couple of times in the 60's with the Hay brothers. After 63 years, I wish them well.

Don't know if that is an accurate description. Rowville jumped them by 21 points in the first quarter and they lost by 21 points, even though they outscored Rowville in the last quarter. Rowville are a good team, so the result wasn't completely unexpected.

Vermont have today missed the finals for according to records the 16th time in those 63 years (with most of those coming in the first decade). A rarity that should be celebrated.

Life is tough when you can’t go and buy 5 topline local players and 5 VFL players after a poor season.

My favourite was in 2010 when they missed for the first time in 23 years. They needed to beat a lowly South Croydon in the last round to play finals. They spent the first half of the week campaigning to have the game moved from Cheong because apparently the surface was unsafe for their players (the surface was very poor but had been played on all year). When that didn’t work they offered South Croydon $15k cash to agree to move the game to Terrara.

SC resisted, knocked them off by 4 points and they missed finals by percentage.

On this Saturday night I remember being pointed to the old EFL forum by a mate to view Vermont people logging on to read the club’s last rites, it was basically time to shut the doors after the disgraceful un-Vermont season the players had produced. Funny stuff.
