FF, his first coaching appointment was uni blacks. Played with St. Kevs and blacks, but its his first time as coach since retiring from blacks in 2010. A grade might just prove a completely different challenge though. Big difference between the grades so cant really judge the two (against one another) just yet.

IMO, blues will still give blacks a hiding.

D, Yep fair enough.

Although if Gallagher is not with the blues, that will certainly buoy the blacks (and everyone else). Still, Ross Young is a huge get, better than Gallagher thats for sure.

It seems the website admin of the blues who posted the article of Lindsay Gilbee and David Gallagher signing with the club pre xmas may have jumped the gun a little. Fast finger freddy!

For what it's worth, Gallagher has signed with Frankston in the VFL. Promises, broken promises.....

Excuse my ignorance, but who is Ross Young?

As a Blues fan l can't recall the name. Michael Young in 70-80's yes but not this one.

I remember him. At the time there was a fair bit of interest as he was a mature age recruit before it became ‘fashionable’. If you have played AFL, even a handful of games, you deserve respect. A recent Sandover medal and a few B & Fs in a strong comp like the WAFL suggests he will be a real handful in the VAFA.

Exactly. Ross will be big. Heard Crozier from Carey not playing due to a real estate job. Has to now work Saturdays. Big loss.

Just another bit of dodgy Uni Blues PR. X is playing with his brother at St Albans in the GDFL and only training at Blues as he can't get to Geelong during the week.

Close the book on A grade this year lads, would have to think the first Jesuit pope will ensure xavs win another flag!

What year level was he in? Must have gone through before it became compulsory to get suspended for muck up day hi jinx.

Also very disturbing news from AFL HQ yesterday that someone was appointed to a position of power who does not have links to Old Xavs or Uni Blues. What the hell is going on down their Andrew?

Was once a teacher at Mt Scopus in Lilydale? Surely he must have lied on his application.

Any practice game results/reports from the weekend? Getting close to kick off now!

De La played Uni Blues on Saturday. Was not there myself but am told that DLS won by 6 goals. As you would expect there were apparently a lot of established senior players missing from both teams. Croad played a half and Nick Smith a full game for UB. I don’t put much weight on results from these games but it does give the opportunity to look at few youngsters

There is a short match report on De La website.

Xavs went out to Windy Hill to take on the B Graders from Caulfield.

Perhaps not surprisingly, Xavs belted the 'Fields by 73 points, beating Melbourne's rain in the process.

Any stand outs for the teams at all Pazza?

Caulf any chance of getting back up to A Grade? Aware it's still early days.

Yes did see that. Quite amusing really but not sure you would call it a barb. You wonder why he would bother suiting up in an U19 practice match? Can only guess they were short of players.
