Premier A - 2013

For what its worth, I can't see how the VIC rep side doesnt win the premiership this year. I would also be very concerned for Uni Blues if they drop to B, with the rise of Blacks it will be interesting to see how things go out at Crawford Oval in 2014.

As a strong supporter of a perennial B side I imagine that most B teams would be hoping that Blues stay in A. Carey will struggle in B. There is little depth with their school team winless and no team in the APS 2nds or 10A competitions. St Kevins look to be building for a long stay in the top grade. OM,OT and OB are all potential A grade sides but OMs seem to have the greater depth. Having said that and having seen all teams I expect OB and SKOB to be the promoted teams for 2014.

Smoking looks like an OM's supporter by his history of posts, I'm not sure Steve Salopek cares much for choking in B grade Ammos lads, but 100% true re SKOB until they actually win a final or two.

pretty sure this is an A grade forum not a B grade forum.....so i dont know why we are even taking about b grade clubs eg skob and oms, lets get back on track again.....few interesting games this week! These look like the best games to me:
Collegians vs Beauy (Collegians surely cannot drop this, if they want to stay in A)
Bernies vs Xavs (Looks like it will be thriller, going by form of the last few matches)
Scotchies vs Blues (Both clubs need a win)

Massive round in Premier.
Violet Crumbles lose to Beauy and B Section for last years Premiers is firming..what a fall that will be for Wesley.
Lost an enormous number of the top end players from 2012 and are in free fall mode.
Most years 6 wins will keep you away from the drop but it may be 7 in Premier this year.
Any chance HQ can get last weeks Ammo Footballer online to read before the next round??

OSOM

Weekends results went as expected but OS would have to be happy with the % boost they got, they moved up into 4th spot with all of their 4 remaining games winable.

The Relegation battle is still on
Sharks have – Scotch, Uni Blues, Old Carey, SBMT
Blues – DLS, Beaumaris, SBMT, St Bernard’s

Uni look like the ones to drop but if they can beat the Sharks and knock off another side they might be a chance to stay up!!

Uni will win 3 with Beau will drop.

Has a team ever won the 1st game of the year by over 100 points and been relegated?
Has a forum been so devoid of commentary since round 7 from one team?

I like your comments Max, true and to the point! (not sure about Uni winning 3/4 though)

Go Sharks haha

Blues have to play the Jockies ($0.50 to guess the rationale behind this name), the Zephyer's ($1.00 if anyone can get and explain the reference), the Premiers (???) and the Delorians ($2.00 bucks to guess the reference).

Looks like the Beauy v Blues game in round 16 could be the relegation battle. My money is on Beauy to go back down, however they do have that half a game up their sleeve plus a game against Old Carey. If Beauy beat Carey, then the Blues would need to win two of their last 4.

At the other end, Xavs are still my (and it seems everyone else's favourite) followed by a smokey in Scotch. Xavs to beat SBMT in the first prelim, Scotch to beat Black in elim final, Scotch to beat SBMT in 2nd prelim, Xavs to win flag.

I'll have a crack

Jockies = DLS - very small side
Zephyer's = Beaumaris - Full of wind
Premiers = SBMT - your tip for the flag?
Delorians = St Bernies - It's like travelling back in time when you go to Snake pit?

I agree with Darwin and his selections.

"Youlike" I concur with your reckoning except Delorians. Yes its St Bernards, but its not "travelling back in time", its more "before life began as we know it".

Is still an Essendon VFL player (played for them last week) and is at Xavs on local interchange permit. As such he is required to play 5 games to qualify for finals. Don’t think Essendon have that many byes coming up so I cant see that happening.

I saw that Bate played again on the weekend, even with his VFL team playing. Does that mean he has quit VFL footy? Needs three more games to qualify with 4 remaining.

Not Bad 2 out of 4.

Sharknado (New release movie) full of strength and action. Beauy in round 1
Shark Zephyers - totally out or breath - Beauy for the rest of the year

Derlorians. Big name, but just doesnt go.

Old Carey's Premier 3rds refused to play Uni Blacks at the University Oval on Saturday due to the condition of the ground.

Do you blame them. Didn't a Black player get an infection as a result of playing on the ground.

I have seen correspondance from OC. They had 22 players turn up, but a decision made by Coach, Captain and supported by club administration, including the president.

We have Ground Inspection reports. If the ground is not satifactory, the game is not to proceed.

St.Bedes had a situation 4-5 years ago when the centre wicket dried like concrete and it was not suitable to play on. Similarly a game at McKinnon when the centre wickey was like contrete. We played, and one player was injured as a direct result.

Its not like the old days, but these are the times we live in!

The University Oval underwent soil testing proving that the infections to a blues player and a blacks player was no longer a threat. IMO, it was pretty poor by OC. Umpire thought the ground was fit for play and wanted to proceed. From what I'm told, blacks players had an internal game once OC walked off.

When a game is played on a ground, both teams play under the same conditions.

Fitzroy u/19's played the 2pm game there and ran out winners. No complaints from them.

On a side note, the University Oval is terrible and needs some investment by Melbourne University. But, for a team not to want to play is pretty precious.

Without seeing the state of the ground I can tell you that if I was an OC player I wouldn't want to play either

For the ground to be in the state that its in, the dumbest thing would be to put more traffic on it if there wasn't going to be a game. Why on earth would you chop it up even more if there was no need to. It's an awful ground this time of year and needs as little traffic as possible on it.

Here is a standard week of usage at the Uni Oval :

Tuesday night footy training Blues or Blacks Seniors, Reserves, Unders,Thirds (Blues also have Clubbies)
Wednesday night Baseball training (men and women's teams)
Thursday night footy training Blues or Blacks Seniors, Reserves, Unders,Thirds (Blues also have Clubbies)
Friday night Womens footy training : seniors and reserves and girls youth team
Saturday Blacks or Blues match day
Sunday Womens match day (every second week seniors and reserves)

Plus casual use during the day by students and college kids and College footy matches including Wednesday night matches ( x 2 ) after baseball training has finished

Might be worth noting that Carey thirds get beaten by about 20goals every weekend....
So I'm sure the coaches etc. didn't have to twist the OC players arms too hard to convince them that not playing was a good option....
