Good result for OX.
Dont know Ted, but Pat H is a "ripper". Probably the best Coach in A Grade.

Big call ff. Reckon Satterley will make an impact when he gets some decent cattle on the park. Good pedigree. Knows his stuff. Presents it in an uncomplicated manner.

I'd put Pat Hawkins right up there at the top as well. Very well respected and just a top guy all round.

Brendan Iezzi is fine player who is a champion of his club and the competition. Thoroghly deserved his Woodrow a few years back but in a season in which he is unlikely to win his own clubs B & F I find it extraordinary that he would win the Woodrow by such a massive margin. I know that this is pitched as the highest individual honour but it is disapointing when only midfielders stand a legitimate chance of winning. No knock on the umpires as they have enough on their plate and it is only natural they give votes to those who they see the most. Probably the reason why the player MVP is held in higher regard across the AFL by the players these days then the Brownlow.

On that point the VAFA Coaches MVP is great initiative. Couple of fantastic young defenders in Harry Tinney and Tom Humphrey coming 1 & 2 which would never occur if umpires giving votes.

Not surprised to see young Tom Humphrey from De La do so well. Apparentley won his club B & F by a huge margin and good to see him recognised by the coaches (if the not by the umpires and VAFA selectors).

Great year for the Hedgies - Woodrow, Coaches MVP and Rising Star. Well done to them.

This may shed some light on it....Iezzi played Coll a few years back. OT got flogged. Iezzi got 7 possessions for the game and the umpires 3 votes.....go figure.

Just to finish previous comment. Im not having a go at Iezzi, he is just doing his best and good luck to him, but it realy doesnt add up.
How can a losing team by lots. have the best player on the ground with 7 poss?....... I know umpiring isnt easy.

He's the Chris Judd of the Ammos. 3 Votes B. Iezzi
But agree, not his fault, but there are easily 30-40 far more accomplished players. But he stands out with the umps.

Not being an umpiring apologist or sympathiser or anything, but umps don't just go on possessions, they take into consideration the impact the player has on the game, the effect he has on those around him, and so on. It may well have been a situation where even though they lost, he had two tagging him all game and was still able to marshal the troops and lift them.*

* It may also have been a situation where the umps flopped down after the game and tried to remember who stood out in the blur of footy for the past two hours and they didn't have any real idea (allegedly)

Whoever did the vote count for the coache's MVP needs to be sacked! There's multiple players who lost votes due to the incorrect spelling of their name.

Don't disagree. Heard him a couple of times do the lead-in to Lethlean.

Doesn't have the pedigree of Satterley who I thought performed extremely well with an average list.

Pat H took over Coll when they were down in C Grade, (after sliding from A). Took them to a C grade GF into B. Won a B Grade flag back into A.
Set up a list of young boys, with the right character and abilities.( 6 or 7 still there) He has played a huge role in Coll playing in their 5 GF in seven years. He has outstanding people skills coupled with an accute footy brain...........No one better in my opinion

When was the last time University Blacks played in a A Section/Premier Grand Final?

PS VAFA Premier Grand Final umpires are: Russell Davidson (7th A Section/Premier Grand Final); Kit Harvey (1st A Section/Premier Grand Final); Michael Hooper (1st A Section/Premier Grand Final).

I think their last A section GF was also their last A section flag in 1974.

I think Russell is probably the best umpire running around at the moment, so glad to see him in charge of this one.

Tipping Collegians to win by 35 points. Even though Uni Blacks have been the best team so far this year, I think the Lions have too much Grand Final experience to win this one.

Collegians are "twice" the team they were at the halfway mark of season 2014.

Are they going to win?....... I think it will depend on who handles the wind better, eg : 1.7 with the wind isnt going to
win you to many GFs...........

How many people turned up to the Premier Grand Final yesterday at Sportscover Arena?

Congrats to all at Uni Blacks on their Premiership last sat. The best team all year and thoroughly deserved their win.
A close game up till half, after that their power and skill took over.....well done.

Davidson breaks the all time record for A Grade grand finals umpired.
