Nice to see some effort and research going into this post.

A far cry from the scribes in the record or even the ill fated Heath Ledger!

Thanks God - nice to get some praise from above!

Little out of touch on injury updates at the four clubs, so some educated guesses in there.

I did have someone reach out questioning my views on Charlie MacIsaac, for clarity I think he is one of the best forwards in the competition.

Only THREE blokes have kicked 75 Goals across the past two premier seasons. Stewart, MacIsaac and Kerr. Will Clark might be in next couple with 60, Hope probably in the next couple in the 50's. Those four (minus Stewart) will be crucial to teams success.

These blokes can fluctuate in form, but goals in finals are bloody hard to find. Need people capable of kicking 3+ and winning you a game, MacIsaac is that man for Old Xavs and believe he can certainly deliver over the weekend.

Preliminary Final

This sets up an exciting prelim: Old Xavs vs SKOB. Expect OX to lean on their bigger brother mentality to overcome SKOB. Recent results may suggest otherwise, but when it matters most, OX has historically held the edge over their Catholic rivals.

Good luck to all teams.

This is so true. Some things just never change.

Can someone explain why Sellers and Maginness have been named for Old Scotch tomorrow?

Neither has played the required five games (2 after the 30th of June) to qualify for finals, or has the VAFA changed this, as I know other leagues only require VFL boys to play 3 games to qualify.

Brommel too.
G Natt outsmarting Plugga, who in turn outsmarted Wesley

Seaside ... have the CYs had much luck getting kids who went to private schools but live in willy now they are back in Premier B...essentially kids like your GS.
That’s a good question, MIO.

Currently, about 15 SKOBS are playing for the CYs. I’m unsure about the numbers from other colleges.

Two of my grandsons played U19 this season — one is now at Monash, and the other is in Year 11 at StKs.

In their U19 teams, there have been and still are players who are and have been students at: St Kevs, Wesley, Melb Gmr, Melb High, Xs, DLS, Caulfield G, Scotch together with lesser-known schools like St Michaels and St Marys (formerly CBC St Kilda). They all travel by train to school mixing with friends they play against in the WFNL, some of whom switch clubs.

Many have competed together with the Williamstown Juniors, having attended local colleges such as Westbourne Grammar and Emmanuel College. This interaction among boys from various colleges, including local high schools, fosters a positive image of the VAFA.

Some are drawn elsewhere, but many prefer the disciplined standards they upheld during their college years.

As the only VAFA club in the western suburbs, the CYs have become a remarkable example for footballers seeking to play high-quality, honest football.

They have just copied their team from last weeks list. All the changes will happen tomorrow morning.

There really is no reason other than wanting the Premier GF a week later than everyone else for the "spectacle" and that the people that run the organisation are idiots.

The length of the season is outrageous with the number of byes, and having spoken to players about to play in finals they are over it.

Shambolic operations at HQ.
Nah. The Friday GF is fantastic. The players who play on that day will love it

Yes I’m sure they’ll love playing on a public holiday the day before the AFL grand final weeks after the game should’ve been played. And it will be a good finish to a season that goes for 7 months. Terrible take.

We've seen it backfire before, and of course it happens again. It's just stupidity. Resting 1-2 with niggles is fair enough, but blatantly resting a whole bunch of players the round before finals has always been a recipe for disaster.
What a shame for the TH King mob.
Played with fire 🔥 & got burnt badly.
Too smart for their own good. Cheekily helped out their so-called Snowdogs mates, stitching up Collegians in the process, while in the end shooting themselves in the foot….not hearing any sympathy…
Cliches now used up !

Old xavs were holing on for dear life after qtr time. Old Brighton dominated that game
Yes… you knew the wall would burst l…but somehow held on for over two quarters.
Brighton are a very very good side. If Darcy Gilbert is running around in the Magoos for them, you know they have incredible quality depth. He’s a jet.
