Chief are you backing your boys at 6/1?

I like their odds thats for sure, as i think the winner will come from the match between OB vs Bernies. Bernies are looking abit better though. but cant fault brightons 11-2 finish to the year.
Really is anyones trophy, its going to be who ever rocks up with their A game on the day that wins.

Looking forward to a great finals series and hopefully the weather on the weekend was a sign of things to come. Skob look certain to go back to A Grade finally, Caulfield look finished but could be saved the straight sets embarrassment if they can recall Scheetz and Sinclair in time, Bernards are hitting the line strong with Merrington carrying them and Brighton are coming off a come from behind win over Skob on the weekend.

Skob to play Bernards in the final and the Merrington Vs Keogh match up not only deserves a huge crowd but will decide the result.

Skob by 3 goals

Where has Keogh been playing these last few years?

Has been down at Coburg for the last few years, missed most of the season through injury but starting to find some form at the right time of year.

Can't see him playing in 2011 or 2010 for Coburg, but gets a good mention in 2008. If it gets a bit warm he's going to struggle keeping up with any of the St Bernards forwards. They are flying.

He didnt play last year, was overseas, before that was their number one CHB, originally from SKOB.
We aren't playing St Bernards Privateye, we are playing Caulfield!!!

Shame the best team all year by far cannot field their best team ,looks like reserve team from last year ,so the odds on Caulfield should be at least 10/1 .

How's Christopher Hammond's form - about the only guy who stood up and pushed back at the Uni Blacks game earlier on in the year and he gets himself reported in a "Praccy match" for the finals. For the sake of evenness, lets hope he gets off. PS, no money for Caulfield at all - have to lengthen their odds.

Sounds like a set up to me, Caulfield will start favorites this week. Perhaps complain about injuries if you have played more than 53 blokes in your seniors.
We are expecting a bloody tough and close game this week, we know any team Caulfield has put on the park is more talented than any other club, hence there games won this year.

Skob straight to a grade Brian
don't get humble now
they will smash oc

Top Votes Per Team:

Caulfield: O'Sullivan
SKOB: Lynch
OB: Perrett
St Bernards: Merrington
Oakleigh: Harold
Old Ivanhoe: Weatherly
Uni Blacks: Richardson
Beaumaris: Petering
Marcellin: J Carlson
Hampton: Fletcher

I think Brian is getting nervous with his club's favouritism status.

I would love to think Caulfield will get up this weekend and if it is a windy day then it will certainly make the game more even.

BS it is not the number of injuries you have all season that hurts nearly as much as key injuries that rule out players for a finals series.

Saying that Caulfield will put their best 22 out on the park and they won't be slouches, and may the best team win!

Turn it up BS. Speaking with Skobs players at the weekend they are more than confident, talking themselves up big time and so they should. Hot favourites to get the week off and celebrate being back in A grade. If the injuries being stated for CGFC are true then the 167 players used by SKOBS during the year is irrelevant.

Only factor is Gia's hamstring... will he play! Do they take the punt. BS fill us all in.

Keano have enjoyed your work during the season - concise and to the point. As we look back - Hampton's season was done at the start (no offence there lads they just had lots of players leave through the back door), Marcellin's was dashed in about Round 2 or 3 (v St Kevins) with injuries to key players. Beauy (sorry CC) lost Tom Dean who was a key player, UB couldn't get Foster nor Bolton on the park. Old Ivanhoe never recovered from their exit and unavailability of their onballers. Oakleigh's game fell apart around the UB game and beyond. Old Brighton's hopes diminished with R16 - a few not seen on the park since. SKOB's team has had more changes than any others but they've not let that get in the way. St Bernard's year almost never started and they've now hit full tilt, even qualifying Mitchell Church up as I understand. It's now up to Caulfield to prove the pundits wrong - you've now got injuries (and changes) but its what most teams have been carrying through the year.

St Kevins look well equipped to go up. St Bernards going up would be a worry - a pretty full list all year (minus Jolley / Stapleton) and got to fourth. Old Brighton have too many indians running around and not enough chiefs. And Real Saga, its the September action that counts not early May form which has been Caulfields problem.

I think very nervous Keano. The wind will blow, always does.... looking forward to the Carboni v Giansiracusa match up on the weekend... worth the entry ticket alone. Real Saga has thrown a spanner in the works if that news is true though.

More importantly looking forward to more non intelligent posts from Bedford & Cardio over the next few weeks. Should be interesting reading and the Captain getting in the Last Word (well known for it). Where is Bedford we havent heard much for a few weeks, has he gone on footy trip now the season is over or getting a head start on looking for a new coach?

Let the big games begin.... iisobba might have a bit of that at 10/1. Better than the 7/4 previously on offer :thumbsu:

Very true Private Eye... no argument here. All teams have injuries and some of those sides hit hardest are not amongst it at this time of year. We can enjoy the finals action and let the September action speak for itself.
Doesn't mean SKOBS aren't red hot favs this week. Keano has always been an itellegent poster on BF, your summary speaks for itself.

Moore Medal

1) Weatherly OI
2) Pettering BFC
3) Lynch SKOB

Outsider: George STB

Cardio had a quality post on the unusual low votes received by the three players you stated. You would have thought all 3 would have been at least in the top 10. Clearly my comments on the umpires performaces this year and their clearly unusual voting meant it was deleted.

Congrats to Harold - A good player at an ordinary club.

Constructive criticism is always welcomed by any umpiring group. Throwaway one-liners about how crap they are resulted in just that - it got thrown away.

So we have a thin skinned umpire as a moderator, what is Big Footy coming too???
The umpires showed by there votes that they have no idea who's who on match day.
How could Merrington not win the medal???
How can a Marcellin player get 3's in massive losses???
I was even told by an umpire who got the votes after a round 18 game over a beer, where's the integrity of the system?
Not to mention the 1934 like coverage where we all sat around the radio to see who won, yet the VAFA honchos fly themselves to Ireland....what a disgraceful set of VAFA administrators we have,

SHAME VAFA SHAME!!!!!!!!!!!

Pleeeeaaaassseee,

How did Petering (Beauy) not even make top 10.
This is an outrage, onballer kicking 50 odd goals.
Think he got under 5 votes. Kidding yourself umps.
This is enough said about the quality of the umpiring in B Grade.
Umpire the game with no bias you fools.

totally agrre, merrington kicks 6 goals each week and only kicks 3 against a bottom side and gets the 3 votes?????

Why should Merrington win the medal, wasn't even the leading goal kicker!!

The notion of comparing the standard of umpiring with their ability to give votes on games is ridiculous. While we all love a good b*tch about the umps, who they give votes to is hardly a cause for grading their performance. Their job is to adjudicate the game. Not watch 44 players and pick the best 3. On that basis, the B&F system is flawed. Nonetheless it's a great effort to win one and kudos to Harold from Oakleigh who obviously did enough to get noticed by the men in white.
