Oh, dear-have a read of the Om's website.

Bascially blamed Landrigan for the poor season(saying they had a "great list") and the review recommedned his removal. Sounds tough to me

So what do they do? The old Scotch tirck-go for an AFL guy who is after more money!!

More clubs than tigers woods-OM"s will be his sixth club in six years. Yes-six clubs in six years.

I hope they signed him to more than a one year deal!

OMs are a not run well. Lack of quality numbers at the coal face. Too few ensuring that everything is done poorly compared to their peers. Their 2011 list was mid table at best and had a horror run of injuries. Finishing 9th was about right. New coaches record of 6 clubs in last 6 years is worrying. Don't think we will see OMs back on top tier anytime soon.

Going to be a hard year in B next year, I already know of a couple of clubs with very strong recruits. I saw OM's v St Bedes towards the end of the year, looked very good.

BS,

A little birdy tells me that your club is working overtime on its recruiting. Only difficulty I see for you, is the state of the "King" for most of the year. It may put some players off.

Maxxy, The King is being overhauled over the Summer, thank Fu*#...please tell the little birdie to keep it to himself, and also please tell him to pull the boots on next year!

The little birdy has got very very tight lips and he has flown the coupe.

As for the boots, do you need a Boundary Umpire for the magoos:D

Seems that they have already done the ‘Old Scotch trick’ when they appointed Wayne Oswald. He almost got Scotch relegated in 2010 and then went one better at OMs this year. Is it a coincidence that once he left the Sandy Dragons they went from perennial cellar dwellers to premiers in the space of 2 years? OMs did have a very good list but not sure how they will shape up in 2012. Will be interesting to see if 2 of their best Nash and Sengstock stick around or go back to their old school side that are now in 'A' grade. Dunnell will surely play VFL, absolute star and might even be a sneaky draft chance.

True that they had some injury issues but not as bad as some other clubs. De La had used 49 players by round 11 or 12. Now that’s a horror run.

What time was the dentist appointment Phil "tooth-hurting??",ah oldie but a goody.

Read post, found no issues as they did have a very good young list and should have done more and I think Langa's would be 1st to agree. Good to see the club break the politically correct scenario to state their true thoughts.Worried more of the clubs that say nothing

Cheers

So , six clubs in six years doesn't bother you Carl?

I would be worried where he will be in 2013 if I was them.

He's referring to Brown CC. From my dealings with Browny, I've found him to be a ripper bloke, don't know if he can coach but as a bloke a fine fellow.

oh, ok.

But he hasn't done anything in the coaching world.

I think the best thing is that as ammos do not have player payments compared to district leagues, ammo clubs can easily offer more for coaches as proven in this case by OM's.

So we get better coaches, albeit unproven in this case, and better football all round.

Not the truth at all. What your saying about Wayne Oswald is incorrect. At the end of the day you can have the worlds best coach coaching any team, however if you havn't got the players on the park, its very hard to win.

Wayne Oswald is a very good and knowledgeable worker.

Another player that will be leaving OM is Kane Penhalluriack, only played a couple of games in the one's last season and then injured his groin's. He had op over the summer before the season started last season and then had it again after round 3.

He is heading to play D4, and will be a very good player in that level.

He must have a case of the Jeckyll & Hyde as on the field he is a shit bloke........or was, until one of our players tackled him so hard he has been told he shouldn't play footy anymore.

Whilst he was coaching/playing, he did bring Chelt FC up a notch and had no problems in giving the players the belief that they were capable of playing good football.

Bad news for Oakleigh as the junior body is moving to Dandy rd and Oakleigh Districts.
Way off the mark, Bedford. A couple of the junior committee made the push this season, mainly for the 2 ground set-up at Princes Hwy, but the move was rejected by our junior club. The club realise their 'catchment' is south of Scammell with their Auskick registering over 180 kids this year, this would never happen at Princes Hwy. Those blokes are now off the committee and trying to take their U12 team up to Districts. All credit to Oakleigh Districts for having a crack, they have finally realised that to be successful and sustainable you need a strong junior feeder. The Krushers knew this in 1992 when we set-up our relationship with Oakleigh Dragons at Scammell.

The minder is spot on Bedford. Oakleigh Dragons have been using districts ground as a second playing/training venue for years and small number in the club, who had links to the districts, wanted to move their base up there and align with OD. They were overwhelmingly voted down and are staying put at Scammell. There was a message confirming that on their website until recently (now been replaced with a xmas message!)

They are in fact a stand alone junior club but geography and player preferences means an obvious link wth Oakleigh Ammos.

Hate to say it but I think your right going by the waffle on by Minder & Rooster. Both posts go one way then the other.

Not a massive issue for the VAFA but as it may impact on the Krushers I guess it has some interest but to be honest Carl it does not really bother me either way. I was just reporting what someone directly involved told me on the weekend. If Bedford has a more recent update then fair enough and I don’t dispute what he says. This person, who has 2 sons at the club, was adamant that nothing has changed. Below is taken straight from their website but I guess time will tell.

For the past ten years the Oakleigh Dragons have been playing
and training out of several different venues, this has been
directed from the Monash Council and has been a result of the
drought, ground availability and working amicably with different
sporting clubs to accommodate all requirements.
This committee is unanimous in its belief that the best direction for
our club is to continue to play and train out of two venues, being
both Scammel Reserve and Princess Hwy Reserve, and to
continue having Scammel as our “Home Ground”- with each venue
having a senior football club we have concluded that training
and playing commitments can be maximized by utilizing both
grounds.
This unanimous decision has been made with the clubs long term
future in mind, and takes into account the strong links with local
schools and their projected number of school admissions
which impact our recruitment, South Oakleigh Auskick, other local
sporting clubs and their proximity to us.
If any member of our club would like to propose alternative options
for the clubs direction, we are happy to take submissions for this to
consider , but this committee needs to start recruitment for next
season now, and we want a clear direction to market to our current
and prospective players, parents and sponsors.
