Disagree. The onus is on the player to be responsible for their actions. Guys will always have brain farts and lash out, but if its in the back of their mind that being an idiot MAY cause them to be sent off and MAY cause their team to lose the game as a result, they MAY think twice and back off.

Forget the week off, I wouldn't want to sit in the rooms after the loss and be held to account.

Or does everyone close ranks, pat the guy on the back, and make disparaging comments about the ******** who sent him off? :)

Surely you can't knock the umps on Sat, Tiges v OH. Best display of umpiring I've seen this year.:thumbsu:

From what I've seen the umpiring looked first class. I actually don't have an opinion on whether one should be replaced on a RED, but if a charge is withdrawn / not guilty then that's tough on the team with one less player. This one was off the ball, intentional, full force but the player didn't seem injured.

Could not disagree more. The sending off rule is one that protects the players, the tribunal is very hard up dealing with incidents because of the lack of vision and amateur nature of players and umps, so sending players off is a real deterrent so those looking to whack a few blokes. Yes the umps will get it wrong from time to time but overall a good rule that diffuses many situations and protects the players going out there for the love of the game.

Get rid of the rule and more brawls / slash player's evening up will follow. Being able to be replaced in 15 mins is hardly a penalty.

The frustrating part is when a guy gets sent off with a red, and the report is either withdrawn before going to the tribunal, or the guy gets off at the tribunal. That's when you question the umpire's ability to make a call like that on the day.

Get a copy of the tape, or even better, get up before 9 am.

Brian why not give something instead of just innuendo? You are allowed to be a man of your convictions and say what you think instead of hiding behind half-truths and miss information! I understand that this is how you operate and that you have a massive issue with Beauy but seriously this is becoming a joke!

1. There were supporters from both sides in the last 2 quarters behind the goals and they both dished out a fair amount of shit! Good for footy.

2. Not sure the red card was deserved but the rule is the rule? The umpiring was good all day but given the level of umpiring ability at this level I believe this is too big a penalty to pay on the spot

3. Two VFL players in each side and only Cunningham in the best poor that you would even bring that up given you won.

Well done to SKOB and Beauy this was no doubt the best game of footy I have watched in many years!!

If players don't do the wrong thing then they won't be sent off in the first place. Obviously umps see enough at the time to send off a player. Clubs then try to get the offending player off after the game. Wouldn't think too many players get off at the tribunal from my experiences.
On a footy note good to see the Tigers bounce back in the last quarter to kick 6 goals to zip after OH kicking 5 goals to zip in the 3rd. The young guns starting to realize that senior footy is a lot different to u19's. and it takes a 4quarter effort. We can only get better:thumbsu:

Nearly cost Werribee a win - see the tape @ 15 minute mark Q3.

Having just viewed it, I would have thought a free kick, but not a straight red. There would have been niggling from both players probably 1 minute before the red card incident.

IMO I think the umpire over reacted a touch in dealing a red card.

Seriously mate either say what your trying to say or dont drop anything at all. Dont need another week of dross written especially after the unregistered player debacle.

Both sides had the obligatory group of twos players giving the backmen hell in the last quarter nothing unusual there. The only notable thing about the Beauy crowd was the marquee tent setup in lieu of not being able to get the infamous stats van down to ground level.

That Sharks marquee got me in. Never seen anything like that at a VAFA match before.

There was quite a lot of willing barracking all day. It started after a front on tackle by a SKOB player in a marking contest in the first 1/4 that was no more than a free. It got a bit willing in the end but nothing to get your knickers in a knot about. It certainly didn't warrant referring to the Sharks supporters as 'feral' as Brain did on Sunday. The SKOB brigade gave as good as they got.

A tight contest all day. Both teams hard at it. It seems to me we are down to three serious contenders now.

Yep, there was stuff going on beforehand.
Game hots up as Werribee under siege @13.20.
At 14.28, players 43 & 7 come into view.
Soon after player 43 takes possession, sees that he's about to be tackled and appears to duck the head. Ball up.
At 14.42 player 43 responds to something said.
At 15.30 player 43 is reported.

That quote is for Cosmo, who conveniently left out my retraction and my praise for Beauy.

Here are your two quote BS I didn’t leave anything out I just pointed out that having a winge about the number of VFL players when you win is poor form?? Must be hard to take when you final use facts and still get it wrong?? My thoughts are that most VFL players don’t stand out at B level, maybe harder to come back a grade or the standard is better than they think??

What about the crowd comment??

Quote One: “Thats what happens when you get sent off. Should have won considering they had their VFL players, SKOB only had one, who had a quiet game. Interesting comments on Southern FM this morning about the Beauy crowd.”

Quote Two: “There were 2! Sorry, my bad. Beauy are a much improved side, lots of talent.”

Not good about Tim Biggs, it highlights the recent criticism of AFL players leading with their head. Thanks goodness he is going to be okay, although his footy career is finished, was a fine player over many years.
On another subject, I must say I am loving Di Langtons work, a breath of fresh air and a very smart footy lady!

I must say I agree with you Brian re Di-all class!

I'm lost chaps. For what seems like weeks, Ron just keeps posting to agree with whatever Brian says/tips.

Am I missing something h'yar?

Grum

Good to see Bol Kolang, Werribee, being nominated for 2012 VAFA rising star against OH on Saturday. Great future for this kid:thumbsu:

3 questions

1. Are the top 3 settled (SKOB, Beauy and Blacks)?
2. Are the bottom 2 settled (OI and Oak)
3. What do you think of the new layout of the VAFA site?

Gentlemen, scholars and beaumaris followers,
I think you will find only SKOB are set.
Blacks will suffer the exodus in uni leave and drop off, and beauy are very beatable.
One of them likely to hang on for 2nd leaving a race amongst 4 or 5 sides for positions 3 and 4 including The magenta market gardeners, the poo farmers, and those lovely lads from the junction!
The ivan's are gone, and oakleigh are gone.
Leaves old Brahton TAFE and the maccabiah's in the Scotch zone.

As for the website, I remember when I bought the old lady a new dress.
Looked ok, but still the same boring content underneath!

Great post RahRah. Have you missed your calling or are you actually part of the SEN/Foxtel team

Better late than never!

Except we don't play in B Grade, bedford.

To put into context, Russell spoke to the playing group out on the ground after the 179 point thumping to Old Camberwell (3 games ago) and said if they're not happy with him, he'll offer to stand down. My suspicions are he was testing them to see if he had their backing. To be fair on him, there's not much more that can be done at the moment. We're simply not up to standard with the group we have.

.....cue Max's comment to take this to the C Grade thread.
