Anyone prepared to make some predictions for 2026? Hard to pick a premier this far out but for mine there will be 3 clear standouts – Collegians, Old Carey and Old Ivanhoe. Collegians criminally unlucky to be relegated. Teams with % of 96 in 'A' grade have no right to be in B grade and only significant player departures will prevent them going straight back up. Carey was very solid in 2025 and from all accounts have substantially strengthened their list. Would not be at all surprised if they win it. Old Ivanhoe best side all year in 2025 and no reason why they won’t be thereabouts once again. The fortunes of the others will very much depend on comings and goings. I don’t fancy either of the promoted clubs so have Willy, Camberwell and OGs fighting out places 4 -6 with (in no particular order) OM’s, De La, Beaumaris and the Jacka’s filling spots 7-10.

Is the Canadian bookmaker ready to post some odds?

i'll back Old Carey to win it but l do that every year.
Certainly getting a good list together and the arrivals far out number the departures plus regaining the early season long term injuries from 2025. Will be a very solid year for the Panthers in 2026.

Yes the Collegians and Carey look the testing material. Don't underestimate the OGGS who have quietly recruited very well and late season victory at Ivanhoe (what a game that was!) showed what can be done. Fancy Camberwell could also make it and beauy like to make a lot of noise every year but it was only 15 months ago they were relegated, forfeiting ressies games and folding their thirds team.

Old Carey & Collegians the stand outs.
I wonder whether Old Ivanhoe have run out of puff?
OI, Willy & De La to battle for the next 2 spots.
OG's next best & Old Camberwell look to have lost a couple but stay above the relegation battle of
OM's, Beauy & Ajax

OCamb have lost Lurkens and Verbi, and Hart will be close to retiring, that is some goal kicking lost.
We have been attacked by the professional comps, and have lost 3-4. A couple of retirements to also add.
Heard OG’s have lost Sheridan
Beauy have lost Heath.
Provest is a huge loss for Willi. Chan boys aren’t getting any younger. Busatill will play more VFL this year.
Paine has left OM’s. Yea will be playing less at VAFA.

ok max...so after all that..whats your predictions?

Sam Parsons, 2019 best and fairest winner at Collegians will be back in the purple and gold after spending the last five years in the SANFL and Adelaide footy league.

Whether he plays forward or back, he will be a huge asset to the side.

Also, Sofronidis will be a Collegians player as well as being at Box Hill VFL.

A couple of very handy inclusions.

I see Old Carey have a couple of handy ins as well.

C’mon Max – a 9 team grade? I know we had an absolute shocker of a season in ‘A’ grade and a mid-table finish is the most likely result but surely De La at least deserve to be included on the list 🤣.
bit rough JJ! I think Max has forgotten you exist

For my part. I rarely post but read all the time. It is obviously very early days, and like Carlton I am biased. Having said all that, i cannot see OM finishing bottom, Ajax are largely an ageing list, they will be solid but if injuries hit may really struggle. OGs i am hearing have lost more than Sheridan so their recruits will want to be good. It also sounds like the Sharks have lost a few

I can assure you the recruits are more than good...just not publicising every one like some clubs. St Bernards had a big piece on a new recruit from Carey (picture and all) who played 17 games in B reserves last year.

West Brunswick the year before. Maybe he likes the challenge now and wants opportunity?? Hard team to get into, Carey

Sam Frost to Colls?

Putting Willy in second spot gladdens me, but how do you justify when losing Provest to Freo, Bussitul to Werribee and another 6, training with, who may or may not make a VFL list??
But I'm happy with your prediction.
Honestly who knows. It's all guesswork. Having said that, good young list that will only improve , at a well run club, Bussitul spent half the season at Essendon, so would expect more of the same, most clubs would have similar numbers running around at VFL pre-seasons, and if not one of those a 200 odd cm full forward is pretty handy

A number from the Geelong league and a few from Uni blues...keeping things low key. Confirmed losses ..very few.
