U/19s as well, RJ. To be quite honest, I've been amazed at the morale. We're still getting good numbers on the track and had 75 in the rooms last night for selection. So the commitment levels aren't waivering. It's simply a matter of the cattle and the level we're at. Losing 50 players in the last 2 seasons has been hard to cope with. Particularly when we lost 32 or 35 this year and the majority of those were in our 1st XVIII.
Outsiders can have a crack at the culture, but our first club function saw good representation of those players who have left attending the night. We drew a line by not allowing them to train with us if they're going to play elsewhere, but they've understood the club's reasons and there is no ill-will. Many are saying they'll come back, but that will remain to be seen.
Unfortunately for clubs like us, the VAFA rules have been relaxed so much so that players find it easy to return to their clubs making the initial decision to leave easier. In my 15-20 years I certainly feel like the club has never been better placed, off-field. We've simply been decimated by the lure of the almighty dollar.

Hampton Rovers vs Parkdale
Monash Blues vs Fitzroy
Marcellin vs Rupertswood
Banyule vs Mazenod
Old Camberwell vs PEGS

And lets give some credit to the kids (U19's and ressies players, now 1's players) that are going through what will probably be the worst season they'll experience in their football careers. They've been thrown in the deep end and none of them have taken a step back.

They should be proud of themselves :thumbsu:

.....and the really old blokes who wanted to have a kick in the 3rds, but when we didn't have a 3rds side would help develop the kids in the Ressies, but have ended up playing in the Seniors. The club is very lucky to have such loyal people, p20.

Must be bad at the Rovers, even Jascave doesn't post anymore!

UM, are you playing this year?

Jase is too busy with his mighty Tiges.

Attempting to, GOI. It's fair to say the shorts aren't as loosely fitting as they used to be and therefore find it a bit harder to move around!

A great footy day, make the most of it.

Parky to join in with the weekly massacre of the rovers. My sympathy hasn't kicked in yet as it wasn't long ago they were handing out some harsh smashings!

The Ashes to beat the royboys at home. Deserve some points as they have been super competitive in all games to date. Keep an eye on the redhead in the back half.

Marcellin too good for rupo.

Bangers going ok and will win again.

Like Oc but could be close.

Workmanlike effort by the home side at the Barnyard yesterday with the Bombers' accuracy to 3/4 time a testament to their mids bringing the ball to the right spots inside 50, hence their shots were always a good chance of majoring!

OC failed to capitalize on its first half dominance and just expected OEG to drop away. Once the Bombers got within a kick, OC managed to reply, then put through the last 5 goals to draw away comfortably.

Watched the Parkdale / Rovers game on Saturday. Hampton burst out of the blocks kicking the first 2 goals before the Vultures settled in and kicked 16 unanswered. Good to see that Hampton never stopped trying and actually outscored Parkdale 2 goals to one in the third quarter. Although Parky never looked like they would be headed, there was some positive signs for Hampton, although a victory this season may well elude them.

Have to agree with most of that rj. The kids looked a lot better at times. Good to see them showing a bit of ticker, but ticker will only get you so far against bigger, quicker, more experienced players. But staying on the positive side by keeping the possibility of winning a game/s a major goal for the year.

Watched last half of Marc v Rupo, Marc looked pretty slick with ball movement, Rupo looked good when moving ball forward but couldnt really get past the centre. Up The Nest do you agree??

Pretty spot on 'just ask!!!'. Eagles dominated play after quarter time. Did very well to pile on the goals. Another dominate display from the Bortolotto bros.

I couldn't get my new page to put the tips in !

We all look forward to reading the great Scribe's summary of the game....after a bad loss
AND responding to Macca's text asking him to make an appearance on the footy show. The IQ was raised considerably today without Brain. Add Scribe and it would go through the roof.;)

Any news of the lad in the Parkdale two's. Game had to be abandoned due to a very nasty broken ankle.
On a scale out of 10, it would have been a 13.
