Maybe bedford means a properly supervised player payment points system would limit some of the country teams capacity to pay outrageous sums.
Every player gets a rating, eg AFL player 10 pts VFL 9 and then the comps are rated on their standard. In the VAFA premier A could be 8pts, B 7pts C 6pts EFL maybe 7 as could major country leagues. Home grown players coming through juniors should be zero. It could end up at say 85 points. This is just my thoughts.

That's roughly the system the MPNFL has had in place for some time. Not sure why you'd employ it in the VAFA as it's primarily directed at setting a level playing field for player payments as I understand it.

Something needs to happen. Country footy is a joke and metro leagues are not far behind. It's all about the cash.

Looks like everyone is on the same page with selections, and it was tempting to go for the upset, but ...
Round 9.
Hampton Rovers v Old Camberwell
Monash Blues v Oakleigh
Parkdale v Banyule
Peninsula v Ormond
PEGS v Marcellin

Shocked to see that Banyule forfeited their reserve's on the weekend. Have they been hit seriously with injury this year?
The rules state that if you forfeit more than one game for the season, you must face the VAFA board and show cause as to why the club's position in the competition shouldn't be terminated.

Interesting times ahead...

I dropped in for about 20 mins at Peninsula on the week end - the ground was a lake - someone could have drowned in the gutters that obliterated the boundary lines.... How many are Ormond missing Bedford? apart from 4 or 5 older blokes the team looked so young. Not many I recognised from the GF from 2013, maybe 10 new faces???

Ormond have now used 44 players in half a season. Fair indication that plenty are/have been missing. Still enough time left in the season to turn it around. Just hoping it's after this weekend.

Sad news for Banyule. Fortunate to have McDonald available after this week. Wouldn't be too many others that get away with 2 weeks and 2 suspended for striking a spectator over the fence.
On the opposite end, full credit to Marcellin who fronted up with 11 in the 3rds on the weekend and instead of pulling the pin were able to get enough for a late start game with reduced quarters.

Yes Pirates would have had a nice home ground ad. Orm using 44 players!! and only half way through.. It could say that there are many out, either injured or unavailable but also that perhaps a few are not up to it.. Damn hard to win with so many changes each week.. 2 games plus a fair percentage behind third last is going to be hard to make up. Good to see young Oaten on the list again after a bad injury.
