Please, at least neither of these clubs did the double drop, let's see how good you blokes are next year if you meet either team.

Neck up, BS. I'm not the one labelling your club. Get out of your bubble of denial. You only have to look through the numerous posts over the years and join the dots to know there is a perception of your club.
As for HR, we're not ashamed of our history. Best we can do is learn from it. Not ideal to double drop, but a lot has been done to correct what caused this and we're now back to where we were before it went that way. The challenge is to keep improving and achieve something that hasn't been done in a very long time for our club.

Happy to stand corrected but didn't Marcellin do double drop in 2010 and 2011? I'm sure they were in 'A' grade in 2010 but in 'C' by start of 2012.

What do we make of Marcellin if they don't get over Parkdale? SKOB have earned a name for themselves not being able to get up from B after some strong performances in H&A season. I'm curious as to whether people think it's a state of mind, the coach or just simply bad timing.
FWIW it hasnt taken HR long to get cocky again has it?

Learn your subject better, FWIW. I'd ask the same question whether we were up, down or somewhere in between. It's a legitimate question, it's current and it's relevant. If I knew the answer I wouldn't ask, hence the curiosity on what other's think. Certainly not throwing stones or perching up whilst looking down.

Nothing at all wrong in posing the question. Pity Mr Speaking wouldn't take the time to even attempt a reasonable response.

I think Parkdake and Hampton have peaked at the right time of the year. I think Parkdale are very well structured. Larger, wider ground will def suit Marcellin. I also think it must mean more for Marcellin who have made finals past 4 years I think in C. It's going to be very close, Parkdale slightly better team peaking at right time of year, playing on a wider ground suited to Marcellin, who have to be hungry, given they have not produced in finals in the past 4 years. Parkdale by 4 points in a real close one.

What kind of game do you think it will be on Saturday-a defense-style game with ie Marcellin trying to shut down Parkdale's scoring options and vice versa; or will it be a case of all-out attack?

None from two last weekend and copped a spray from old mate, but I'm going to have another dip and predict an Eagles win. Suspect the Vultures have surpassed their internal expectations and the class and experience of Marcellin will come into play.

In answer to your question Mick I think in previous years Marcellin have finished about where they should have. Both mazenod and Ivanhoe were better last year. This year the eagles were the standouts and if they don't get up this weekend there should be some hard questions.

Cheers, les. Have since bothered to do a bit of research and saw there was only % between 2-4 last year. Adds weight to what you've stated.
They were very poor in the finals series last year judging by scores. Certainly not the case on Saturday. I only caught most of the last half and I suspect they would've gained some confidence from the way they fought their way back into the game last week.
Hard to go past the best side all season, but take out the Banyule game and Parkdale's form has been insatiable.
For this week's game I think the Vultures might have spent too many petrol tickets boosting their % to pinch 4th spot. Marcellin to bounce back from Saturday's loss with a scoreline that will look more comfortable than the game suggests.

Since when was the last time a VAFA finals match was played as far as Cranbourne? What's wrong with a venue like ie Junction Oval? I hope next year the VAFA plan the finals series much better than this year.

The whole C Grade finals were played at Casey Fields in 2013 and I hope in 2015.

Were the Eagles standouts? I know finishing on top suggest they were. However Rovers beat them convincingly twice, PEGS smashed them at home and should have beaten them towards the end of the year. They beat Monash twice but beat Monash second time during uni holidays. To their credit they found a way to keep winning. However I would have them as the 5 th best team in C grade. Hampton, Monash, Parkdale, PEGS, Marcellin. Marcellin lost both Jones brothers, FF and FB. Lost Symes Chb and lost few other senior players from last year. I am amazed they finished on top. Great effort for them to finish on top, but with 4-5 key losses from last year especially down back they have massively over achieved this yr. I wish them all the best Sat though.

I
They also only got a benchless Ormond in the last 10 minutes
I reckon they would have been very worried over pre season when they lost all those senior players. They were in huge trouble! However their ressies were undefeated last year, and unders were strong. Again absolutely amazed they finished in the top 4 and on top.

It will be a very close game, but I think Parkdale Vultures will get up by 3 points, in a match that could go down right to the wire. In fact, what are the odds of this preliminary final going into overtime-if at all?

Marcellin to bounce back to take the choccies by 4 goals and put the fear of God into you and Unca.;)

I did finish second last in the tipping so what would I know.

Jascave, the VAFA admin can use all the excuses in the book the fact is they are always slow to move and the selection of finals venues illustrates that perfectly. The one thing that they do move very quickly on is the booking of airline tickets when the VAFA hierarchy go overseas on their junkets..

I got a hunch that the Premier C GF might NOT be at Trevor Barker Oval, as was previously indicated. Because the Premier B GF is at Sportscover Arena, the Premier Preliminary Final would most likely be at TBO.

Preliminary Final.
Marcellin - Parkdale Vultures
The Bulleen boys weren't on top for most of the season for no reason.
