Disappointing day for the bears. Lost it in the first half Hampton were harder for longer and got us on the outside. Positive was that the boys fought out in the second with a much improved performance with no one on the bench for the whole half (4 injuries in the second qtr) and basically stuck with Hampton the whole time.

A few quality players to come back over the next month, plus 8 new players today so plenty to build on. Hampton will be there abouts in September I think.

Interesting results around the traps. Mentone camberwell and Caulfield impressive. Haven't seen a willy/OH score.

The Bloods far too good for Willy by 4 goals. Great win by the Wellers. I have been hearing some good things out of the Barnard in the last few weeks. I think they may be a surprise packet this year.

Caulfield impressive with a solid win over Ivanhoe. Caulfield lost a key forward in the first quarter and another later to play out the game 2 players down. Also only got one quarter with the strong breeze as the change and rain came thorough . Ivanhoe attempted heavy tags on key midfielders but it didn't work and they set the game up in the second quarter. Pretty even effort for Caulfield with a few First year players in to cover injuries doing well . So competition for spots will be interesting in the next few weeks .

Scruff. You have a solid outfit. Will take alot of beating. Great recruiting and great development of a quality young team.

We nearly won two quarters. 1st and last.

Darkest conditions I've seen in a long time. Had to change the ball in last quarter to a yellow ball, otherwise Stevie Wonder would have better chance of seeing the ball.

Whoops I meant to reply to Max...Max I think we have a much better mix of size this year and some of the young guys have added some size...it's a long year so very early days finding who's going to be strong and who's not...

Interesting that Peninsula and Mazenod both got smashed in B yesterday. Looks like a big step up to Prem B

As I mentioned in a post in the 'B' thread Scruffy (or should it be Mr Scruffy:)) the Nodders knew where they stood. They have been unable to improve the list from last year. I reckon even consolidating in 'B' will be a big stretch unless they can grab a couple before clearances end.

The big surprise is Peninsula as the goss was they would pick-up talent from some Nepean clubs. Appears not to have come to fruition. Early days though.

Havnt seen much about HR on here, i reckon they are a big contender for the flag this year... a lot of young talent...
