I think your thumping of a couple of clubs in the practice matches might have had us jump on the bandwagon, Scruffy. Seems like Haileybury may have got its act together after some time in the wilderness.

Yeah what a long dark wildnerness - produced 3 brilliant finals performances to win this very grade's premiership 18 months ago - what a stupid comment.

I'm not sure any APS school teams should ever be below B grade with the feeder system and support they have. Being in C Grade is very much the wilderness for Hail.

so yeah winning 2 games to open the season in C grade (and their emergence from the wilderness), is far better than winning the premiership in C grade.
Got you :thumbsu:.

No, not really.
It's just very surprising to see Hailebury in C Grade. Shocks me.
Hopefully they will come out of the wilderness back into A Grade (or maybe B if they continue to struggle a bit) shortly.
Long overdue.

Fair old day down at Newtown on Saturday. Had to do the Reserves as well as the firsts so was struggling to walk on Saturday night.

The main oval at the college is not that dissimilar to Como Park...wide ground with interesting pockets. A wedding in the chapel at the city end just for something different. (Yes the father of the groom had to kick the ball back before the proceedings lol).

Goal-fest of a match.

played in B last year mate - maybe check the ladders and past results. Maybe you have been in the wilderness ?

Haileybury is the biggest school in the state and quite likely the best resourced. They tip fortunes into their football and sports programs and hand out scholarships like confetti.

They have been relegated 3 times in 6 years. That they are even in C grade with a feeder like that quite obviously indicates they have not had their act together.

and yet some goose said they were 'emerging from the wilderness' after winning 2 games in C grade - you have illustrated what I said, what a stupid comment it was.
this has been talked about ad nausum but the fact that scholarships/gun school players are handed out dont often assist their old boys club - otherwise Im tipping Karl Amon, Polson from Carlton debuted on W/end, Tom Lynch Adelaide, Brayshaw, Kieran Collins, Jack Gunston, Stef Martin, Tom Scully, Scriminshaw, Josh Battle amongst many others would be pretty handy inclusions. Even Ty Vickery would be half decent in C grade ?

OH should view C grade as the wilderness as they really should not be there. My own humble ACC alma mater (about a third of the student population as Haileybury) have not been in C grade since 1958. We are not the best club going around but we punch above our weight and find a way to remain at the pointy end.

I just cannot comprehend how OH (and probably Caulfield Grammar for that matter) are not in A or B grade considering the student numbers and resources at their disposal.

Haileybury the school not so long ago had 2 or 3 combined year11/year12 football sides. I think you are overestimating the quality that comes through, after the TAC/VFL and AFL clubs have taken the cream, per the names I mentioned above.
anyway, we could talk for hours.

Dont be an Ammo Lover of mediocrity. Jump out of the wilderness that OH have been in for years and get back to A Grade.

yeah no worries, i am sure me coming down and having my pie with sauce and 3 VB tins post game is really going to help them.

Rooster Man, you've been very quiet about De La's start to the year?

As usual two informative and insightful posts,Rooster 24.:thumbsu:

Not sure entering a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent is an altogether fair contest though.:)

Not really considered part of the Big 9.
But yes they have struggled for a long time. Other than the girls behind the canteen at Como in the mid 2000's.....
Meowwwww.

You said any APS not the "big nine" ..they do have two APS schools to draw from however.

Lol, you obviously didn't see the post removed last week where Captain chaos accused me of being AM, quite ironic really, the man of a thousand usernames accusing me of being another poster.
Had a laugh at that. I believe there is something wrong on this board.

Some people on here know very little about who is who and what is what, and then get confused and then chop and change. That's what's funny.
Others have a little more information at their disposal and are often closer than others think.
It's bloody funny Bedders!

Not at all Brian. I posted after Rd 1 but here was no need to review Rd 2 as yourself, Jimmy and AM summed up the game perfectly. I think we have shown some good signs but as expected by most (myself included) we are probably 3 – 4 goals behind the very best teams. Challenge for us is to try and bridge the gap.

I will endorse what Jimmy said on Sunday – SKOB are a seriously good team, De La have probably played 2 of the best 3 sides in the comp so far and Fisher has been at the club since late March but his debut was stalled due to issues with his clearance.

Aside from that I would like to hear more about the other clubs and other grades rather than me talking about my club all the time.
