Saw the last half of the 2nd quarter at the Barnard. Not surprised Willy came home hard in the second half as they dominated the last part of the second. 3 or 4 missed shots at goal costly, as Wellers kicked straight and took all chances.
Not sure what went on in first 1.5 quarters, but Wellers must have been on fire.
Also game seemed to be running late. Anyone else there? Was there an incident early that held up the game? When I got there it was 10 minutes into the second quarter and it was well after 3pm?

Old Camberwell share the ground use with Camberwell Grammar, which played 2 matches on Saturday. This was the reason that the Senior match was delayed, starting at 2:15pm.

Not fair on other clubs, like Peninsula have gone through. Need to find their own ground , or piss off.

Still not fair on the rest Max, how were the FarKew yesterday.
9.5 out of 10

Can't do anything about the grounds. Image if you said to OC and Marcellin you can't play on two of the better grounds n the comp.

It effects probably 4 games a year between both schools. Not a big issue

Do you mean the seniors or juniors 'piss off'? Either way this is a fairly blinkered statement.
Old Camberwell play on a community ground, not at the school, so they have 'pissed off, and share the ground with the school and at least one, maybe two junior clubs, so are constrained by council decisions. It would also be a very poor PR excercise to tell the school to get stuffed for the sake of 15 minutes. It would be a great way to bite the hand that feeds them.
Similarly, as Max mentioned, why would Marcellin walk away from fantastic facilities to play at Bulleen Park oval 2 or 3, across the road, for example, to poor facilities and injury risk to themselves and opposition, for the sake of a couple of games???

Try for the sake of a couple of delayed game starts by 15 minutes. Very minimal disruption in my opinion.

Why play on weekends when that is their free time to play with their local clubs. De La have it right.
I think learning is more important than having half a day off school to play football, local clubs are on the way out anyway, especially in the VAFA, they should go to the SFL.

The only way to deal with the school footy situation is to do as Ivanhoe has done and have the school games finish by 1pm.
We are lucky to have a second ground that enables reserves to be played.

Yes our school was able to accommodate an earlier start for the school game this year.

Unfortunately parents who are paying a kings ransom to send their kids to our school want their kids having lessons on a Friday and not playing sport. Very common in AGSV.

Seriously the SFL is thriving. That is news to me any every other half informed football person.

Like to see your evidence.

My point is there's no old boys teams in the SFNL, it's proving to be impossible for district clubs in the VAFA, so head to the SFNL where it's an even playing field.

Hardly surprised to see Bedford taking another poorly conceived snipe at OC, for the sake of information though the main oval was free from 1, but at Willy's request we delayed by 15 to allow the ressie's to finish for availability of trainers.

More importantly, the game was an absolute beauty as it always seems to be against Willy. Think we've had 5 games in Prem C with all of them decided by less than 3 goals.

Old Camby had a handy breeze in the 1st and took full advantage playing on and kicking long to an open forward line. From there a 40 point lead at quarter time basically held until 3 quarter time. OC was 2 men down all day from early on and the warm conditions in combination with the end-to-end running left us out on our feet at 3 qtr time. Willy took full advantage and slammed on 5 with the wind before running out of legs themselves late in the last.

Congrats to Willy as well for a good showing in the rooms after. Top notch club

The ACC schools (De La, St Bedes, St Bernards, Parade, Whitefriars etc) and other independent school associations play mid-week. APS and AGSV play Saturday’s and that’s just the way it is. Inter school sport, particularly in the APS, is a very big deal and is a means by which some schools promote their “brand”, hence the offering of scholarships.

Some VAFA clubs share facilities with the school teams and provide some of the best playing surfaces you would find anywhere. Carey, Trinity and Marcellin are magnificent and for mine the opportunity to play at these venues far outweighs the occasional late start or other disruption.

With the explosion of women’s football most clubs are going to have to be very creative with their fixturing. Due to a lack of open space in Stonnington my club has had to tap into another council area to accomodate our girls team and the Thirds.

He's not stupid, I don't think you need to treat him like a three year old.

As far as AGS/APS schools promoting their brand, what a lot of hogs wash. I wouldn't send my kid to a school because it has a good football team, I want my kid to have a good education, one that he won't get at a run of the mill school like De La Salle or Salesian. If it means he has to play sport on a Saturday then so be it.

I'm guessing you aren't involved in the advertising and marketing game. I think you have missed the point with brand promotion.
And to back it up with not being able to get a good education at De La Salle College...Remarkable. I think I might enjoy reading your pearls of wisdom moving forward.

Certainly not treating a great VAFA man like Bedders as stupid. He has forgotten more about VAFA footy then I will ever know. However clearly you are if you believe the SFNL promotes a level playing field.

And to suggest that some APS schools don’t promote their brand through sports is just as idiotic. Most are not be seduced by it by it but plenty are. Unfortunately not everyone is born with a silver spoon and find it a struggle even to send their kids to “run of the mill” schools like De La Salle and Salesian. Despite the run of the mill tag it doesn’t seem to stop these elite types picking them and kids from the public system off with offers of scholarships.

Have only ever heard my old school described as run of the mill by one other VAFA poster. My most humble apologies if I have this wrong but is the timing of your arrival here and the threatened departure of that poster more than just pure coincidence?

Good from you 24. We are not allowed to speculate on others credentials , but it is a worry when I agree with the administrator of Maplebet.
