Now there's been some crazy statements over the years on this Forum but this one takes the cake..

Firstly Caulfield went in to the weekends game with 5 of their top 10 out.

Secondly they should have won by a lot more.

Thirdly Old Mentonians are a much better side the Marcellin

Fourthly Willy are a better side than a Marcellin

Now things can change and could change but the statement was made on current form by our friend Mr Jascave and it is nothing short of buffoonige !!!!

Seriously Scruff, Jas is a great stalwart for the Rovers , but I wouldn't take much note of his predictions. Also you had another nothing post lol

Sorry about that my iPad went flat and that threw me...

Now back to Jascave (what is Jascave anyway) if he's a Rovers stalwart then a crazy Rovers statement would have been tolerated ...

And AM everyone knows the safe money is on OH.

C'mon Scruff, you're starting to reflect badly on all those who went to your alma mater. Lift!:)

Certainly looks like Fields v OH will be at the big dance. Lots of educated money on the Fields to take home the silverware though.

btw. Jase is a good fella who never offends and loves his BF posting.

Ok then he must have had a bad moment...PS I was respectful I called him Mr Jascave ... doesn't quite flow like Mr Bedford though does it

BTW, when will an announcement be made re the appointment of the new VAFA CEO?

And if there's one thing I'd like to see the new CEO on his/her first day on the job is for the VAFA to give more support and attention to the clubs from Premier B, all the way down to Division 4-and not just in financial terms.

Dunno about the new CEO appointment, Jase. It's getting close to the departure date of Mr Sholly so you'd think the announcement can't be too far off.

Still down to a paper scissors rock scenario between Andrew Dillon and Simon Lethlean is my mail. Neither keen to start the final phase.....
Gave me a titter, Hedge.

If we're speculating on some high profile people who would entertain the possibility of a pay and status cut to steer the Ammo ship then why not a former De La man in Tim Silvers seeing a Xav/SKOB has had a crack at it over the last decade.:)

Round 7
Gents my tips for round 7

Hampton to beat Camberwell in the affluent cup.
Old Ivanhoe to improve at home and beat Jascave s flag favourites Marcellin
Despite losing our injection of size this year to injury . Caulfield in a tight one to the finally getting their Sh&t together OG.
Willy the third best side Caulfield have played at home just over the misquito fleet of old Mentonians the second best side Caulfield have played.
After tipping Kew last week and looking like a genius early only to be disappointed , I can't do anything but pick Old Haileybury/vfl .

My top 4 at season end

Old Haileybury
Caulfield
Old Mentonians
Old Geelong

Stiff Willy

Thanks 2411 ....yes it is. Subcontiously hoping we were playing Marcellin again threw me.
Cheers
Caulfield travelled to the wide open spaces of Como today.

Now firstly a beef there is no Coaches boxes and in fact the Caulfield coaches has to rest there boards etc on a wheelie bin ...what a disgrace ....I'm not sure what happens on a wet day but at least OGGS can use the roof of the machinery shed. Such a shame in such a lovely park..the other issue is parking but not much can be done about that....anyway over to the game .

OG were pretty spirited early and kept with Caulfield until halfway through the first quarter. I thought our injury toll might have been catching up with us but Caulfield gradually kicked ahead to lead by a couple of goals at quarter time.

The second quarter was an exhibition with Caulfield kicking 11 goals to 1 and setting up there 7th win for the year.

The big forwards were enjoying the space and the pinpoint service from our midfielders.

The second half Caulfield experimented and rested players for longer rotations setting up for the bye and a bid second half of the season.

Hampton next round at home after a well earned break.

Season wise I think that Haileybury and Caulfield are well clear of the next three or four being Mentonians ,Ivanhoe , Willy and until today I thought OG...Kew is clearly gone and I think Marcellin and Hampton will have to work hard to stay in.

Cheers

As the former "genuine" Parkdale supporter:rolleyes: who transitioned to become a "genuine" OGGER supporter:rolleyes: after some harrowing times would have been at T.H King, I'll take a stab, Scruffy.

Think the absence of coaching cover is cos the beloved municipal council has said nyet. Not sure of their reasoning.

Great win by the Fielders by all accounts. The OGGERS did have a few missing I believe including the skip who copped a couple weeks.

I've seen enough.
OH and the Fielders are by far the 2 best in the comp.
Rovers / Kew heading D Grade
Willy can beat anyone at home it looks like based on Saturdays result?
Oms honeymoon in c grade looks over
Oggery will be back had a lot out which hurt
Ivanhoe look dangerous at times and sheepish at others, tough to read.
Marcellin will be slotting into 4th
Camberwell fighting in the next bracket

would love others thoughts

C Grade is for Can't travel.

Caulfield - Clear favourites imo however the big loss to OH and the performances in last years finals will have the boys very nervous.
Hampton - OK at home, if you let them keep the ball in close will beat teams who are not switched on.
Kew - Wait for the wet at their home ground. Still needs to win 4 of the next 10 to be even a chance. ie no chance
Marcellin - Getting older, and without Jarrod lack some onfield guidance. If Robbo doesn't get it, it's real tough for the forwards for clean delivery. Gave up a 30 point lead on Saturday.
OC - Can be dangerous against everyone bar the top two. Still hoping the Hawthorn connection will keep them up.
OG - best team we played this year, but then turn in a performance like last week. Should have enough, especially when the skipper is back.
OH - Should have beaten us but bad kicking is bad football. Strong men who beat up on others. Big home ground advantage.
OI - who knows, when were on, should be 3rd of 4th, when were not 5th thru 9th
OM - Should stay up, but travel is an issue. Looking light on.
Willi - Back at Freason and it showed on the weekend. Suspension for Ruckman this week will hinder. The Grey boys need to be squashed.

Max. I agree with your assessments with the following exceptions.

1. Old Geelong were really disappointing. I thought it would be a close one at Como but from the 15 min mark of the first on they were a rabble. Our two big blokes up forward were very very good but up the ground we got clear without pressure allowing us to keep pumping it forward. They are a long way off on the performance and all sides have key outs each week. Caulfield have lost there CHB and FF for extended time.
2. Marcellin were very ordinary. In fact Kew put up more of a fight .
3. OH are very very good. Caulfield can't be favourites after the lesson OH gave us and we were almost full strength in that game..

Cheers

My view After 8 rounds

Caulfield out in front for premiers
OH main contender
3rd 4th and 5th in no order
OI unpredictable but have talent to compete
Camberwell will be there about
Willy competitive
6th 7th 8th
Marcellin
Geelong
Mentone
9&10th
Hampton
Kew

2411.....I find it interesting that there is not a lot of love for Mentonians.....on performance v Caulfield I rate them second behind OH....they should have been well ahead of Caulfield at half time but kicked poorly...they run hard and in waves....they just don't have a lot of size....certainly I put them well ahead of Marcellin Geelong and Camberwell....other than that and the Caulfield v OH issue I reckon your on the money.....cheers

Scruff
Only going from what I have, saw the game last week and they didn't turn up. Only had a few that had a crack, may well have been different against fields.

Will be a nterested to see next game with Max's mob after the break,
