C grade 2018 otherwise known as "Travel central"

Watch out for PEGS next year. Will add 3 from Aberfeldie's premiership side, 1 from Keilor (EDFL rep player) and 2 from Sunshine in WRFL....all PEGS kids.
They need pace and a couple will be very handy in that department.

Might be PEGS boys, but points will still be high.

I hear Flaherty is making a come back. :)

All 1 pointers Max as all went to the school.

I hear the Fez is stilling playing in WA. Absolute gun in his prime.

No doubt would be impressive if they landed them all, especially considering that I think, as many have mentioned, the standard of Premier C has dipped and the gap between D1 and C is not as large as in previous years. However, lets not forget that it is still September and unfortunately for VAFA clubs verbal commitments are not always the be all an end all when it comes to players coming from leagues that pay. I've seen plenty of blokes change their minds when the dollar signs pop up.

Max Leader I see the geischens are on board as coach and director of coaching.

I’ve also heard Groth and Bruno won’t be going around again, among others

Old Geelong can’t be too impressed with Burbury considering they got him a great job to come over

and, as a club all helped to get him to Ireland by running raffles etc. Not sure the VAFA will be all the impressed - given every player had to sign a form committing to certain agreed standards. Loyalty being one of them!

Did the players have to sign an undertaking declaring they would not change clubs in 2018? Obviously OGs are disappointed in losing such a good footballer but it goes both ways. Players leave to play a better standard and then on the flip side others depart higher grades to find their own level and often take some mates with them. It's been going on forever and is not likely to end anytime soon.

Maybe Collegians got him a better job or he simply does not want to play C grade anymore.

And If players want to fork out their own hard earned then fair enough but any club that puts the hat around to subsidise one player on this ridiculous junket has rocks in their head. If you want to raise funds then it should be for the greater good of the club, not for an individual. More fool them.

Cant blame a guy for wanting to play in a better Grade of footy....irrespective of the histories..
Agreed and I also agree with JJ that in that I like to see guys who are good enough go and play at a high level and guys that maybe aren't good enough for A and B grade seniors look to play seniors in lower grades. In saying that, however, I'm a massive proponent of loyalty at local footy clubs, and to have your captain walk out after two seasons (including a premiership) after they looked after him handsomely, I dare say it wouldn't have gone down too well. I don't know though, as I'm not involved at OG. They only just missed the finals this year too, what about trying to lead them to B grade?

Everything you say is correct, Im not involved at OGs either, having said that who knows what goes on behind closed doors..It must be tough for them to swallow, but I am sure it happens to all Clubs from time to time...Not easy, especially their Capt.

FWIW I'm curious as to how long someone should stay at a club after being assisted with a job? Would have thought 2 years and a premiership is pretty close, but obviously when he is a pretty important player it hurts more when he leaves. At least he is still playing in the VAFA but I suppose OGs would have preferred he'd gone for $$. An easier pill to swallow.
