Some interesting results…. Parkdale massive win, Parkside another win. Big win by Pegs missing a few.

Parkside are a club on the rise, said it many times, the fact they have u17's playing on permit, two of them, in the senior side is such fantastic work by them with their junior club.

Playing marcellin, the two boys both actually attend marcellin college (assuming on scholarship) and play in their firsts side.

That must hurt a little.

Interesting division. Top four are forming. Parkdale and Ajax are early favourites with St Bede's around the mark. Interestingly I don't think Glen Eira or Prahran are as far as 0-3 would suggest so the next few weeks will be pivotal.

glen eira and prahan are still on the high from their premiership wins it seems
ajax are prem c bullies who choked last year
if parkside can win 5 out of the next 8 games they will make the granny and be promoted yet again

Not to sure about the top 4 being set.

Ajax and parkdale are the clear 1/2 at the moment, no doubt about that.

St Bedes and Beaumaris the next 2 however they haven’t played Parkside or Pegs yet who are both 2-1.

Prahran look in big trouble, injuries galore and 0-3 not a good start. Glen eira 0-3 is interesting, still think they will improve as year goes on under the new game plan, massive game this week.

Mazenod biggest disappointment to date, really though they would have kicked on and pushed for finals after last year, lost 2 games to sides finished well above last year.

The final Ladder will be: -

Ajax
Parkdale
St Bedes
Beaumaris
Parkside
PEGS
Marcelin
Mazenod
Prahran
Glen Eira

The bottom two are cannon fodder.

Few of prahrans boys not want to step up to prem C? happy with a division flag?

That cringe video on their instagram about being a premier club might need editing.

Premier C comp has always been a hard one. Basically, it is made up of teams that should be in Premier B and teams that should be in Division 1.

It must be hard for those top teams when they play lowly teams that shouldn't lick their boots like Glen Eira and Prahran, and they don’t get a real contest. Winning by anything up to100 points and the Club President has to stand up and say, yes but it was a good close hard-fought game. Lol.

Premier C is made up of teams that should be in Premier C, because they were not good enough for B grade or they were too good for D grade. Next year 4 clubs will depart C Premier and 4 new clubs will arrive. Every club finds its own level, which ebbs and flows each season.

Harder earning a quid up there

Sure, but what I mean is that it's a divide between prosperous teams that have fallen on temporary hard times just for whatever reason i.e. their juniors have gone for coin or they have had players injured or gone overseas and no hoper clubs that don't have any financial backing and no real facilities and should realistically be in the lower levels. Hence you get half the games being 100 point or 80-point drubbings which doesn't help anyone.

Games against the bottom two teams in Premier C are just going to stat pad the opposition players.

What you describe is not unique to C grade and not unique to the VAFA. Happens in almost every suburban and country competition across the land. Not ideal but as I said clubs fortunes can ebb and flow from season to season.

Your descriptor that they are “lowly teams that shouldn't lick their boots” (of higher ranked teams) is disrespectful. Remember there are 30 VAFA clubs in grades below them so in the scheme of things they are doing ok.

Disrespectful but accurate. I guess I am saying the bigger Clubs with financial clout start at about mid Premier C level. Ostensively from that level onwards, Clubs performance on field can more or less be mirrored to their financial performance off field. While it happens in a lot of competitions, there is a real impost at mid table Prem C for teams to try to jump over.

Don't bother with it

Well, Bedders, comprehensively there is a certain level that Clubs reach naturally and unless there is an injection of cash behind the scenes, it is very hard to break through that threshold.

Marcellin reserves game moved to Doncaster. Seniors at the school but can't enter till 1.30. Great. Also no social activity after game
Bad for you. Imagine what it is like for the Eagles. Every year the school make it hard for them to even exist.

Even at the lodge we have moved our games back 20 minutes to accommodate for the school needs.

Last week our thirds had to forfeit because the OX game time was changed 3 times. Eventually a 9.20 game Saturday morning. Impossible to get the players organised on such short notice.

Very lucky to even get the canteen open there
Maybe they should move to another comp
Anyhow you got up to beat the team you hate most
Sad that you'll be losing the best player at the Combine to his home town

FWIW after seeing the SFNL rep performance I’m not sure any club would be considering leaving unless you want to play a lower standard. Miserable performance to lose to the WRFL albeit they were missing some stars.

100% agree with this Southern comp should be ashamed of this result! Without any other context to go off clubs would look at Interleague results and to me no one cares about the concept anymore! Just want to play for $$$.

Are you suggesting that if they move to another comp they’ll be able to open the tuck shop? 🤔
