GE V Surrey Park . Good hitout. Seniors went well resides fair.

How were your numbers ? Did the 19s play?

For the millionth time, Glen Eira don’t have any under 19s teams this year. Their program is kaput and all their 19s have gone to Ormond. They have no way of replenishing their list and will slowly die as a club.

Having said that, their praccy game against Surrey Park in the suburb of Surrey Hills in Melbourne was a classic. GE Won by 4 goals in a full-on firebrand affair.

Some of the Surrey Park in the suburb of Surrey Hills players came for one of the young Glen Eira guns to “rough him up” and next thing you know the older Glen Eira boys surrounded the Surry Hills players and physically tore them to shreds.

4 or 5 Surrey Park in the suburb of Surrey Hills players came off with their jumpers torn and blood pouring out. The Surrey Hills boys certainly learnt their lesson. Leave the younger GE boys alone, else the whole team is going to get you!!!!

Glen Eira isn’t much of a footy team, but they know how to fight given most of them are country boys brought up on farms.

C Grade be warned. You don’t want to upset some of these Glen Eira blokes else you might go home with a few teeth missing.

So you've changed it to surrey park

Surrey Park in the suburb of Surrey Hills. Cnr Elgar and Canterbury Rds. The leafy streets of Canterbury is Surrey Hills in Melbourne. And they are beautiful with gorgeous sun kissed gum trees.

Thats what it is. A park in the hills.

And by the way, I wasn't there, I am only relaying the story from one of my mates who went.

If eating healthy = "Woke" to you, then you're a silly duffer, aren't you
Eating Healthy is not Woke.

Most of the woke stuff is absolute tasteless crap.

Rather have a good old-fashioned pie or sausage roll or pastie at the footy.

And if it is anything like my canteen, nobody buys the "woke" tasteless stuff anyway.

they have started to go back to serving the stuff people like and not telling people what they should eat, as they have to make a profit.

Go Woke, Go Broke!

Praccy games this weekend

St Bedes are playing Frankston Bombers at Southern Road. The canteen will be open and there is a sausage sizzle. So not Woke there.

Ajax are playing in the Harmony Cup.

Parkdale Vutures are playing the Rye Demons.

Glen Eira are playing Old Paradians.

Get down and support local footy.

Parkdale played Rye last week, playing St Paul’s today

That will be a good game, but it depends if Mitch Brown is playing. He kicked 9 on St Pauls to win the game when he played his one season in the SNFL.

The game wasn't played at Surrey Parks ground, it was at Eley Park in Blackburn South.
GE were very good, I went with a mate who's a Surrey supporter and he thought they would win comfortably. The Week before Surrey beat South Morang (Div 1 NORTHERN) He said Surrey had about 8 out from last year's flag team not sure how many GE had out.
GE were much harder at the ball. I think they are in for a good year.

Parkdale Vultures and St Pauls played out a draw at 11.8.74 points each. In a great praccy game..

Glen Eira beat Old Paradians Football Club by about a goal. Old Paradians Football Club had more of the ball but Glen Eira came over the top in the last quarter with superior fitness and intent.

So if its a draw they have the same score and we know Old Paradians are a football club

You are on the turps a bit early this evening Bedders.

The fact it is a draw, and the score are two independent things.

Is it really a sin to call them the Old Paradians football club? Glen Eira could have played the Old Paradians clog dancing club.

Lighten up buddy. I know Ormond got hammered. I feel it too. But don't take it out on everyone else.

Henry , not allowed on the turps

I can understand why mate.

Both of these games were absolute crackers.

This is what is great about the preseason, we see teams that would never ever play each other have a crack.

And it gives us a mischievous guide to some sort of pecking order in relation to leagues around Metro Melbourne.

Gives F all guide

Yes it does Bedders. Or at least the best guide we have.

I was told by my mate last night at the pub that the Glen Eira v Old Paradians game was a quality game.

Given Old Paradians have a salary cap and the college as facilities and Glen Eira, are a club that is run off the smell of on oily rag with good natured castoffs from everywhere, it was a fantastic result for Glen Eira to just win.

As you would expect, Marto has got Glen Eira super fit, hence they were able to run over Old Paradians in the last quarter.

Glen Eira is always a team that tries really hard. It's in their DNA. Every game is "backs against the wall" for them given their combine amalgamated history. Still, lots of skill errors would drive Marto insane. But you aren't in Prem A anymore lol.

Marto's game plan is there for everyone to see. It is still very clunky, and it may take a few weeks for Glen Eira to believe in themselves to implement it properly. But the early "buds" of the garden are very pleasing. Teams like St Bedes and Beaumaris, who they play early in the season, will punish them though.

St BedesMentone beat Frankston comfortably in their praccy game yesterday 14.7 to 6.1. StBedesM play the small ground so well at St BedesMentone.

I'm tipping St BedesMentone to bounce straight back up to Prem B next year. They play their home ground so well. Brad Berry has his own style of running game and long to one out contests in the forward line. He would be super excited about the new young names at the club. Many of whom played juniors.

St Bedes have picked up some great young players. Mitchell Rowe is an outstanding talent. Ethan Hale, Curtis Howe. Ben Murphy, Olver Griffin, Antonio Barba, Noah Hughes, Liam Napier and Will O'Brien. To match the old firm of Darcy Fountain and Jack Blenk. They will cause havoc and headaches in Prem C all year.

How can a practice match between a club in the 1st division of the SFL and a club in the 4th division of the VAFA tell us anything about the respective leagues? A bruise free hit out between clubs in vastly different grades of their respective competitions. St Pauls (SFL D1) v Parkdale (VAFA D3) which ended in a draw provides a slightly more accurate gauge, albeit clubs are never at full strength or go full throttle in practice games.

Nepo saw all games yesterday , he was even back at the Gunn last night , must've been on his own

The point is, it is as close as any we get given it is the only time we see them play each other. The praccy match season is its own waking idealised endearment of a chance for us to rate which league is tough then the other. It doesn't matter if it was a draw or either team beat the other by a coupla goals, that is pretty even and so would suggest some graduality in the closeness of the leagues. Granted players from both sides aren't playing. But I do my research, and I come up with my analysis. You don't have to like it but it is as close to a real truth as you will see in these pages or anywhere about the local footy scene.

Both teams can claim to not go hard but in essence, in the last praccy game before the start of the season, they would be going as hard as they possibly can because next week is the "Real thing" and then there definitely is no excuses.

Take it for what it is worth and move on. But I find it interesting.

Hey Nepo, get your facts right if you are entering the world of Journalism ????? Parkdale beat Rye by around 8 goals last week. Played St Pauls on Saturday and it was a draw, although the scoreboard said St Pauls by a point.
