NSW Premier "iCare" Perrottet and the Libs' Poison Chalice

This " compulsory reporting " s**t might just be the most *ed thing i've seen from a lib this past 9 years.

If i only have $50 to my name and i'm feeling sick, i'll be ****ed if i'm gonna fork out $50 for a RAT instead of medicine, let alone report it.

* your capitalist bullshit

How this gets classified as 'non essential' surgery beggars belief:

But this is the reality of living with covid in NSW where only Cat 1 surgery is allowed under State Government orders due to the strain the health system is under.

As a response from a surgical specialist outlined:

Very little orthopaedic surgery is cat 1. If it’s a life threatening emergency then it will be done, but otherwise the patient is kept as comfortable as possible. Some radical cancer surgeries are not even cat 1.

Which will massively skew the positive case to hospitalisation ratio.
There's no chance they have mid 30s positive cases which is why Perrottet has been forced to include RAT testing in the figures and for people to come forward making it mandatory. I'd hazard a guess people are testing positive on the RAT test and staying home and not reporting it which leads to the misleading numbers. It's closer to 55-60k IMO.

Wouldn't you? I'm *so* over the whole ******* thing. If I was crook and had a positive RAT, I'd stay holed up here until I either needed an ambulance, or else wouldn't go out for a week to ten days after I felt better.

Very sobering. The only good thing to come out of this is hopefully any Liberal government will never ever get voted in again. They bag Labor about how the GFC was nothing compared to covid but I'd bet both my nuts they would've stuffed that up too.

Honestly feels like we are living in a Trump USA/Johnson UK atm, so much carnage.

Are you saying Shorten/Clinton/Corbin would have done a better job? How would they have managed that?

The problem is we have a media that is run by corporations …. So analyzing wether any government is doing a better job is really irrelevant when the population of continually fed bullshit from those that want to Maximize thier own gains….

we still have idiots that think Australia’s response to the GFC was wrong … now every country in the world uses stimulus as fast as they can when disaster hits. Even the hypocrites that just did the same thing here but instead of giving billions to those that needed it they gave billions to ….. corporations!!!! That now spend millions in advertising ….making sure their side of politics gets in.

And now we have a Government telling us we can’t have RAT tests because someone’s gotta pay?????? And people swallow this bullshit!!!!

Which is easy to say if you can afford that. If your kids go hungry because you've got a positive RAT (because you and your partner can't go to work) and there's a huge chance your wife gets it next and isolates you all again for another 10 days, surely the rules are going to get broken. Lots.

Politicians (and many with time to spare to post on social media from the comfort of their own WFH desks) seem to think everyone works the same number of days as they do and can just set their own work agenda as they do.

Not sure why the government is so keen to get kids back to school given what they've done to the tertiary sector. A cynic might suggest that this zeal is based around seeing schools as places that kids can be cared for while their parents go to work rather than places of learning.

amazing how you've been all over this during lockdown and quoting articles from overseas like crazy to prove we should be open now but apparently have not paid enough attention to what is happening here to have an opinion on if your preferred method is actually working.......
Except for everyone with asthma, respiratory problems, obesity etc., who are scared as sh*t about catching COVID that is now running rampant, even if they are fully vaxxed and boostered.
All the dead people and people in ICU and people who can't get an ambulance at the moment suggest that it's not such a great time.

But, heck, you do brunch and God-forbid you should have to wear a mask to protect yourself and others.

It seems any common-sense changes are completely out-of-bounds, it's either let-it-rip or "dictatorial lockdowns".
Guys, it's because we haven't let it rip enough yet which is why we are having issues! Stop the tests, stop the isolating, stop needing RATs, come into work even if you are sick and coughing! The economy needs you! It's so much better!

La la la can't hear you about all the people dying! I can go to the gym and not wear a mask at my mate Steveo's funeral. He died cause he couldn't get an ICU bed after a car crash but how good is not wearing a mask?!

Which in itself causes more problems. A friend of mine waited over 18 months for back surgery. In the meantime he was prescribed opioids. He ended up with an addiction and spent 12 months or so going through hell to get off them.

This is also partly on Gladys who set the agenda for the morally bankrupt NSW Government.

Numbers driven by RATs being uploaded via app now. Starting to see a true reflection of how prevalent in the community it is.

Had booster shot today so hopefully won’t be bad when I get it.
