CAULFIELD just over Brighton
COLLEGIANS by enough over Scotch
ST.BERNARDS by more than enough over Trinity
XAVS should beat Skobs
BLUES just over OM's
OB in a tight one.
Collegians over an improved Scotch.
Bernies just.
SKOB at home.
OM’s over a lacklustre Blues.

Maybe SKOBs should recruit some midfielders and a ruckman instead of just key forward, not much point having only one target and not being able to win the footy anyway.

That was a thrashing and a half, SKOBs a mile off Xavs today, they didn’t look like scoring.

Great result for the competition though.

Big brother gave little brother a bit of a touch up. Some things never change.

With the NAB League having a few weeks off, be interesting to see which young guns make their way to the Ammos. A pair of 200cm+ Sandy Dragons in Salmon and Visentini were running around in Old Xavs U19s yesterday - you would think they would walk straight into any other teams Seniors.
Xavs supporters would love to see Josh Sinn, potential top 10 in this year's draft, get a couple of games under his belt with the Xavs.
Claret & Stout looking the team to beat

What did I miss yesterday? I had VFL duties but I checked the VAFA scores and SKOB did, in fact, score!

Did they present the premiership cup to Old Xavs? I also checked the points and OX loaded with ex AFL imports, some 6 of them, is that great for the comp?

Great to see St Bernards win two in a row, Collegians bounce back after their loss last week, Uni Blues doing enough against a very good OM’s whilst Old Brighton defeated Caulfield to inflict their 21st loss in a row in Premier section.

What a great round of Premier footy.

Briza, didn’t hear you complaining when your Skobbers had about 17 ex AFL players running around a few years back. You loved it. So why would 6 at Xavs be a problem now?

Xavs had 17 x 1 pointers running around yesterday Brian. LOL.

Jordan Kelly is Ex AFL ex Caulfield Grammar, that means 22-6=16.

I heard Old Xavs were awesome and unbeatable at this point of the season. Good on them, they’ve worked very hard to be where they are and I’m definitely on their train, any club who can stop Uni Blues from taking the piss is one I’m barracking for. Go you Xavvers!

From my weekend venture out to Camberwell Sports Ground to see the mighty Lions get their first win in a competitive game since August 2019 I noted the following:

  • David Mirra is a genuine gun key forward in the VAFA and will cause defenders a lot of headaches this season.
  • Josh Watson (19 year old) was easily the most impressive debutant I have seen in my decade of watching VAFA football. The young kid came into a Collegians side, went straight into the guts, kicked 3 goals, played with poise and composure in the wet gathering 30 touches and was relentless with his tackling pressure all day (I'd say he would've had close to 10 tackles). Veteran onlookers were saying it was the best debut game by a Lion since a young schoolboy named Lachie Ferguson (who was in attendance on Saturday) played his first game in 2010.
  • Viv Michie and Corey Cassidy are ultra consistent footballers who never lower their colours for the Lions, both were clean by hand and foot in the wet.
  • Hugh Johnson for Collegians is a workhorse centre half forward who doesn't stop running up and down the ground all day.
  • Old Scotch had a couple of solid top end talents and a couple of handy VFL ins (Rivett and Smith) but they looked all at sea for the majority of the game with the ball firmly entrenched in Collegians' forward half in the last half of the game.
  • Based on the weekend's game, it looks like it will be a long year for the boys from Camberwell Road.

Love your passion Mike, but it’s a two horse race between the goodies(OX)and the baddies(UB)with the goodies at Toorak Park red hot faves. OM’s possibly the spoiler over the baddies.

Why are you writing off your brethren so early O Glorious One. Have a little FAITH. Can I get an AMEN.

45 /

Very long year. Skob's a bit like Richmond right now. Not playing their best footy but long year ahead. Winner of Saturday's Blues V Xavs will be flag favourite but doesn't mean much in late April.

Cant believe Skobs had only 1 goal on the board at 3/4 time (or there abouts)....something a bit off

St Kilda don’t play in the VAFA 45/ and wouldn’t win the flag either. For you it’s 12 Hail Mary’s, one for each glorious goal your OX won by on the weekend.

AMEN.

He’s wondering why you aren’t talking up ya Skobbers Brian. Like you always have. Why frequent a site and not pump up your own team? Seems a little weird. You’ve always backed em with such passion in the past. Hope you haven’t had a fall out with the committee or anything like that..
Very tough week of tipping coming up. May have to wait till I see the teamsheets this time round

Current Hippbet Odds:

Skobbers $2.30 - Big Boyd love’s September.
Uni Blues $3.10 - Big names. Big Team
Xavs $6.00 - Great start to the year. Young school kids doing very well. Will they tire?

Hippbet will be putting out full odds on all 10 teams at the completion of Round 4. Get excited.

Cheers Hipp
