I'm quite realistic and have been since I have seen a lot of younger players in the side this season. Finals is probably a stretch for us from where we are. The 5 best sides are Blues, Xavs, SKOB, Tonners and OMs with daylight in between the top 5 and bottom 5 based on their worst footy.

Lions are implementing a new game plan, under a new coach with literally half the side having played very little or no senior footy prior to this year. We will always put in a strong showing and not capitulate as that's not in our club's DNA but we simply lack the class of the top sides and have been hurt by injuries this season.

Xavs were very impressive on the weekend.

Their forward line packed a fair punch with Schoenmakers, Valles and Xavier Richards who was impressive. Opposition defenders will struggle against those 3 alone without having to have the added pair of Bewick and Soccio into that mix!

Lions battled manfully but were pretty sounded beaten around the footy all day.

Daniel Robinson is also an absolute star, tough and rugged, he has been a terrific addition to the Xavs engine room. I suspect he will feature at the pointy end of the Woodrow count.

Really good to see Old Trinity really take it up to Brighton and Scotch touch up a wasteful Blues outfit.

Onto OMs for my Collegians this week in a big game at the Harry Trott Oval.

Big game at the Beach Oval this week between The Tonners and the Xavvers. If OB win, that will make it three losses from the last four for the Red and Blacks, not something they will be too keen on happening. Should be a ripper match, especially if big Jack plays.

GO you are spot on that this will be a truly glorious game of football between two terrific sides.

From what Jack Watts said on the VAFA podcast last week, he will be playing and looking forward to getting stuck into Old Xavs.

Glenhuntly Oval will be witness to two sides really looking to cement their spot in A grade in Old Scotch and Caulfield Grammarians. This should be another interesting game and one that will likely impact the make up of the bottom 5 sides on the ladder going into the middle part of the season.
