I did write, "If I’ve made mistakes, or overlooked, I’m sorry and happy to be corrected".
This year, 2022 both UHS-VU and Preston Bullants are in Premier C. NEXT year 2023 they will most likely be in Division 1.
Preston Bullants is a District Club.
UHS-VU is not a district club.
My missive also stated, "College-based teams have a huge advantage due to allegiance".
UHSVU is a community based club. Yes the name says Vic Uni but most of the boys are from the local Flemington / Kensington area and grew up playing in the Flem/Ken juniors. You can’t compare them to the big school teams.

As there seems to be significant challenges/advantages that look to be aligned to if you are associated with a school or not - what if we had two competitions within the VAFA that then had divisions?

APS/AGS in one competition and District clubs in another.

Approx 8 teams in each divison / 14 home and away games / final 4 / 1 up and 1 down

Could this provide a more evenly based starting point?

Could it provide the VAFA with a springboard to get more clubs?

Could we have a Super Bowl between the two 'conferences' 😉

Could I have enjoyed too much Red wine this evening?

Night. Chump
Far too much red wine CC. What about us second class Catholics from the ACC such as St Bernards, De La, St Bedes, Whitefriars, Mazenod and Parade? Maybe we can create another competition and play with culturally based clubs like Ajax and Masala and those from independent schools like Emmaus, Aquinas, Therry and Westbourne. More to the VAFA than just APS/AGSV and district clubs.

Now that women’s footy is finishing up. Please, please please shift A Grade to Sandy. It has grass, more than one barman at after match and they can keep the beer cold

Absolutely JJ - should have added other and been more definitive. Did not intentionally mean to leave out any club. That's the problem with drinking from a goon!

And so fall the mighty OXAFL. Think I and they wrote off OBORMOND after their up and down finish to the year. Tough as nails that mob, and full of young champions.
Lord knows why OXAFL stacked their reserves today but they might win the Reserves flag. No ruckman?

My knowledge is they picked the best side they had with basically no injuries minus Guiney who was close to their best when he wasn’t VFL Richmond. Banting in the ruck was one of their best all year down back and it was his second game back from injury. Personally didn’t see the game, but the 2s game was just filled with the blokes who missed out.

Also the ruckman from Brahton, number 21 should have given away 20 ruck infringements in the the first half?

Delaney? Soccio? Batten?

Yeah I’m not really sure, but Batten has been in the 2s for some time, Delaney was replaced by Banting, and Soccio by Vandenberg. Puzzling yes.
The chatter amongst the Xavs faithful yesterday centred around Mr Soccio being dropped for Mr Vandenburg, and what that would do for culture.

The last two OX finals games have seen them lose by 11 goals and today, 10 goals. Interesting they have already re-appointed their coach for next year as well.

Also, what happened to their much vaunted ruckman from Carlton?

Anyway, disappointing that result today, I was looking forward to an all Catholic grand final.

Lord knows they will win a couple of U19 premierships, thirds x 2, U23x 2 and unbackable to win Reserves but what on earth happened today?

Agreed Mr Platinum.

My lions just couldn't get it done over the weekend. We battled manfully in the second half, but against a strong side and down two crucial players in Ong and McLeary it was always going to be difficult.

Both those boys looked to be done for the day, so hopefully they'll play on Sunday against OB.

I was very impressed by SKOB and their system around the football all day, in particular with Tynan, who I thought was terrific. Sofronidis was clearly Collegians' best and will be one to watch this week against Old Brighton.

Just finally, the state of the ground had neutrals watching on the live stream, as well as almost everyone at HQ that is was not fit for football. With more rain forecast later on in the week, let's hope it holds up!

Hi Mr Olotripo,
I agree with your comments about the surface.

For the VAFA HQ to dish that up for the Premier Men’s second semi final is frankly disgraceful.

Perhaps the VAFA could have some foresight and remove all games from HQ a month before the finals start so that they can adequately prepare the surface to be in reasonable condition. That ground is nowhere near reasonable condition.

Sometimes this competition really is amateur in name and amateur in nature.

Did you watch your girls from a boys school win a Premiership ?

The summer grass, installed by so many councils fifteen or so years ago is the problem. It needs to be over-sown with a winter seed. Tim Flannery, who said it would never rain again, and a promise of funds to "fight" and "tackle" climate change, convinced all these municipalities to use summer grass exclusively.

The summer stuff is dangerous when it starts dying off. Not to mention that it looks really bad. Perhaps a lawsuit or two and increased insurance premiums are the only things to force them to spend a few bucks for some winter seed.

I heard on sat that the condition of the ground played a part in the the severity of Kenny's injury.....foot got trapped in the surface..

Look, I think it has been an issue across all grounds this year, especially as winter has gone on and with essentially two seasons of no footy, plus the added issues regarding surface drainage, but the pockets inside 50 at best ends were not fantastic at all.
