Old Brighton over Caulfield Grammarians
Collegians to return to winning ways against OH at the Trott
Uni Blacks to take the scalp of Old Scotch at the Uni
SKOB to win against OMs sans their VFL players this week. Seaton (captain of Sandy) is a handy in this week with Sandy having a bye in the VFL
Uni Blues to cement a top two spot with a win over Old Xavs
I'll take these

Go big or go home

Braaahton 1 pointers
WesleyAFL
Blacks form team
SKOBAFL in a close one
XavsAFL at the College are unbeatable

It wasn't the prettiest day on Saturday at the Trott with it being somewhat wet and overcast all day (so much so that the lights were turned on in the last quarter).

Sitting on top of the ladder with a percentage of 184% after 16 games and with a top two spot, with a double chance, all but sewn up with two rounds to go is a great testament to our players and coaches this year. We have come a hell of a long way since 2021 when we won two games out of eleven that year, and to improve on last year's home and away performances to date has been a huge credit to the entire playing and coaching group.

Easily the story of the season in A grade, but across the whole competition is Will Pocknee. With two rounds to go, he is leading the premier section goal kicking with 38 goals in 13 games this season. Consider that he's played at Collegians since 2012, before 2023 he had played 34 senior games in that time for 11 goals yet this year he has more than tripled his previous combined tally of cumulative senior goals is quite a remarkable achievement.

Some of younger and less spoken about players like Canny, Bazzani and Pewtress were terrific on the weekend as well. OH looked to be a decent side, top end talent is there but they were lacking depth and played a very dour and defensive brand of footy and tried to turn the game into a pretty dour affair. I must say Sam Gilbert is still playing great footy from what I saw on the weekend and is in great physical condition post AFL career.

The bye at this time of year seems to just drag the year out even further than it should, but we can't change it now. Big two final games for Collegians playing SKOB at TH King and Old Scotch at the Trott. These two games should prepare us well for finals.

Is Pewtress related to the former President of the VTCA Bill Pewtress who was involved at Hampton Rovers as well

There’s a whisper that Hannebery will coach at OX next year, on huuuuuuge coin.

Was seen watching the OX under 19 team intently as they suffered a shock defeat at the hands of the De La Salle last weekend.

That would be mammoth if true! I'm not sure that their under 19s coming through would help that much at present as it seems to me that top end talent is their issue, not depth.

We are not the only club that has had to call upon the youngsters but the DLS unders have propped up the seniors all year (and last year as well). Routinely 7 or 8 U19s have played seniors each week, which of course has impacted our U19 Premier team who as a consequence have endured a rugged season. With the senior bye, it allowed a few to drop back to the 19s so the result was not so much of a shock to some.

MO, I dont think the point is about their U1`9 talent, the fact is that he was THERE looking in the first place

Old Brighton too strong for Uni Blacks
Old Scotch by plenty over Caulfield
Uni Blues just over OMs, but no certainty
Old Xavs to defeat Old Haileybury, but wouldn't surprise if it goes the other way
SKOBs just over Collegians in a ripper of a game

Good luck

Yet they rolled out an U/19 Prem side that won by 6 goals.

The VAFA have to stop this happening, roll players up and forfeit your lowest ranked side. Simple as that.

It's embarrassing that Prem clubs can't field a 2nd XVIII every single week.
The VAFA ranking of teams is Senior, Premier U19, Reserves then other Unders. Caulfield did the right thing by the rules.

Surely that's not right? Effectively your third side outranks Premier A reserves.

Makes the 'Premier' aspect of A section redundant
Not necessarily, Old H U/19’s made light work of one of our 19’s (2nd one I think) teams but their reserves aren’t much chop(sorry OH). Their 19’s are clearly better than their Res team.
