I expect the 21 day rule for local football is based on of a player missing two games and then be right for week 3. It was no doubt developed based on the accepted practice of local football being played on a Saturday. The VAFA deciding in their wisdom to play the GF on a Friday has obviously created an unintended consequence. Hill will have missed 2 games and should be right to play week 3 as per the intent tof the policy. If the 21 days elapses at 1 minute past midnight and the game is schedule to start at 2.30pm he misses by 9 ½ hours. Surely if he is medically cleared and has already sat out for more than 20 ½ days we don’t let a kid miss GF for the sake of a few hours. While certainly well intentioned we need to remember that it is just policy, not legislation.

While it should not be a deciding factor, Hill is an absolute gun who could make a fortune playing in the paying comps. He could easily be playing VFL but has remained loyal to his club. Heart and soul type and from all accounts a ripping young bloke. OBs best players, club captain and already a legend of the club and the comp. While others will have a contrary view, which is understandable, personally I hope he get’s to play.
Yep, mate who played for OB confirmed this, he was AFL or old brighton, no inbetween, toured richmonds facilities just to be told at the end he'd be on the vfl list and turned them down, co captain super young too

Agreed 100%, i'd hope SKOB/Scotchies don't kick up a stink about it, should have to beat the best to win it all not rely on things like this

We are all just giving opinions here, neither club is thinking about it to be honest, we just play whoever the opposition is.

Congratulations to both Old Brighton and Old Scotch, two worthy grand final combatants, let’s hope for a great grand final this Friday.

It was amazing that Michael Pisker was able to leave hospital for a couple of hours yesterday to watch the game, his whole situation has put footy in perspective.

See you in 2025!

Two best teams in the GF. Scotchies have none off a six day break. Never ending season
I dont want to be a "I told you so"...but I called these 2 for the GF mid season.
The extra week off is "gold" for the resting team......because of that, OB for me, still (in spite of their outs)..
Under a goal.....

Braahton will gallop away. The Alumni will thrash VFL and we will be rid of this stupid experiment forever. Longest season ever

Great to see 2 unheralded coaches take their respective sides into the big show. Personally I think the Tonners get it done, however the Cardinals are good enough to break the drought (last flag was 1978)

FWIW either way a large drought to be broken, Brighton first ever A grade or Scotch first since Jesus was a boy

The VAFA would be praying and hoping that the Premier Grand Final between Old Brighton and Old Scotch doesn't turn into a 10+ goal blowout, as has been the case in the Premier B & C Grand Finals, because this game will be streamed live worldwide not just on VAFATV, but also on SEN and Kommunity TV as well.

God help us

Will lose all of our Russian fans if we don't get a close game....seriously though I'm tipping Scotch. Obviously both beat SKOB to be there but Scotch certainly looked the side with more run....I dont think the extra week off will really help Brighton.

Why not?...ask any player who has been in that position. They would give anything for the week off.

I think sometimes is better to stay in routine...play each week. Also lots of breaks during this year. We will see I guess but I like scotch to break the drought.
I know from last year, Skobs were battered "black and blue" from their Uni game, prior to the GF.
Your right thou, it is going to be a "cracker". Both teams have critical "out". I am also thinking OS as well, by a whisker".

Very true....the extra bye this year probably helps....I wouldnt say it was a particularly tough prelim

SKOB out in straight sets
Amazing that they did what they did this year, on the back of 9 retirement's from last years team, Piskers injury and Kennedy doing his ACL, missing basically the whole season.

I doubt any other club in the comp would have finished the season second on the ladder.
