Certified Legendary Thread Premiers 2016 - BULLIES DEF SWANS.. WE ARE THE CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!

In my jubilation, I flipped a few birds at some rats over on the main board and got myself banned. Now that is out of my system, I figured I'd come back and have a read through these threads and post some thoughts.

I expected us to win the Grand Final. My reasoning wasn't particularly logical but I had never conceptualised a world where we finally break our Preliminary Final Hoodoo and then lose the following game (having won a PF, I now know that the next game is a Grand Final, some people refer to it as The Big Dance, weird). So aside from the fact that we don't have a history of heart breaking Grand Final defeats there were probably a few other elements that had a spring in my step pre game:

- we keep beating Sydney
- we keep winning at the G
- our form was red hot
- dropping a few games on the back of personnel issues was the only difference between 7th and 1st, with the bye rectifying that issue ultimately.

We were harder at the contest. More effective around it. To borrow a few phrases from the BMAC era we were "stronger for longer" and when the Swans pushed back, we "hung in there." The phone box, we owned it. The TARDIS, we owned it. The scoreboard, we owned it. Straight kicking early was a huge factor. Who'd have thought that this team would nail goals from everywhere early in the Grand Final when we've pissed away so many chances over the years.

The scoreboard and style of footy suggests a tight, hard fought contest, which it was. Did it really look like going other way to me though? Nope. We would not be denied. It was a nice culmination of the greatest month of footy any Club has ever dished up. Winning three trophies in the manner we did is going to be difficult to argue against.

The scenes pre and post game were glorious. Absolutely glorious. If we were to win the next three flags, I can't see how anything could compare. It was pure jubilation. I hit my peak up in West Sydney as that was the more dramatic, emotionally charged contest for me I hate what GWS represent almost as much as I love the Scray, it was a perfect storm. Sydney are worthy foes, I respect them and their fans (even the sooks online).

We were by far the best 7th placed team in the history of the game. People are ignoring the context of the season when they all about the ladder and were writing us off in the finals based on us finishing 7th and not being worthy as a result. It should have been another "what if" moment for us, after the season we've had, to manfully earn what would have been in any other year a top 4 spot and a clear path to Glory, to be the winningest 7th placed team in history would've sucked. But we did it anyway. We knocked over the form team. We played an all time great, we snapped the neck of a predetermined powerhouse and then stared down the only team that could match us physically at the contest, the minor premiers nonetheless.

And then a Flag Wagged.
Good stuff and extra brownie points for getting banned from the main board!!

Melt away

We know that the certain poster is seething that we're now 2, when they couldn't make the most out of their 09/10 opportunities.

Makes for a good laugh though. All in good fun

I'm a bit confused by all the DVDs floating around, and live in rural NSW, so can't pop into JB HiFi, or wherever, to see for myself.
Is there one, or a set, that just has the 4 Dogs finals with the option of alternative radio commentaries?

There is one standard DVD that came out the day after the Grand Final which features the GF with ch7 commentary along with MMM, 3AW, and SEN commentarywhich you can choose to listen too. It also has a highlight package of the season in the extras part of the DVD.
There is also the victory pack that will feature all three finals plus the GF with the alternate commentarys above Plus highlights package. This may or may not have the GF as a blu-ray disc,(This is a bit unclear at the moment) and im not sure if it has actually been released yet or not. If it hasn't it should be out by the end of the month at the latest.
You should be able to get both options online.
Hope this helps:)

I m a bit embarrassed by family members catching me watching our replay of the final series.

I've seen the gf 4 times
The last quarter 8 times
The elimination once and am struggling to find time to watch us v the Hawks and Giants.

I sure they think I'm obsessed
I have to sneak it in when they are not around.

Convert them to MP4 and watch them on your phone at night when the missus is asleep :)

That's what I do anyway

Still can't believe it...

Had the opportunity to be out on the Ground doing the Banner on GF Day... Tell you what I have tingles thinking about it. The Noise that went up when the team came out on the ground was one of the most amazing things of all time for me.

It was just a wall of sound when they came out so loud you couldn't even hear the person standing next to you.
And then to actually go on and win it.. wow

COLAs are still melting big time over umpiring, like a certain St Kilda poster

Geezers......
Looking forward to the day I log into BF and notice the top thread on the Saints board is RIP "XYZ" who I can't be bothered listing. I take great joy that our win has rocked them so.

Well my wife just declared me insane about 5 minutes ago. Watched the 4th qtr about 5 times today

Bit long...

I'm 27 in a couple of weeks.
Grew up in Melbourne went to private school (was s**t) studied industrial design https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_design. That was great met heaps of cool people. In 3rd year I started drinking in the morning, I was living in a sweet sharehouse in West Melbourne, party house, smoking cones all day etc. but was still pretty happy. Once the booze got me I was drinking first thing in the morning. This would have been mid 2011. I dropped out of uni and just drank and smoked all my savings for about 8 months then had to move home.

Being back home didn't change anything, I was drinking all day, first thing in the morning til pass out at night. Got my system down pretty well money wise. Aldi has $9 goon sacks and thats 4l at about 10% and smoked rollies $10 a day so for $20 a day I could drink and smoke all day.

My mate got me a job at Travel Money OZ basically sat in a booth changing money. I coped at the start by giving my self an hour or so in the morning to get as much booze as possible into myself to make it until lunchtime then go to the bar smash 2 scotch and cokes then that'd be ok(ish) until I finished. Very high functioning alco. My boss was pretty chill and I was good at my job so once I was accepted I started filling a Sprite bottle with goon and drinking on the job. Lost that job about 2 years ago and then back to drinking my savings away. So it got to the point where I was drinking at least 4l of wine a day (https://www.aldi.com.au/en/grocerie...ps/p/albertsons-reserve-crisp-dry-white-cask/ best tasting and cheapest) plus anything else I could get my hands on - red wine (I hate red), 20 y/o shitty port with bits of mouldy cork in it, at parties beers with butts in 'em I'd still drink it, anything. I'd wake up after 6 hours sleep with the shakes, couldn't go anywhere for more than 2 hours unless I knew I could get booze. I never drove which was a pretty responsible thing in retrospect.

In June I'd had enough, I was really sick. Didn't go to the doctor much but I was starting to lose weight (5'9 57kg) couldn't remember what I'd eaten for dinner the night before. It was awful. I didn't really have an epiphany or moment of clarity or anything but I knew I was done so I went for a 10 day detox.

Alcohol withdrawals are f''ek, that pretty much sums it up. They just gave me handfuls of valiums so I can't remember that much of it. 320mg a day was the most from about 2nd-5th day but did it and I haven't had a drink since.

Now all I had was the Dogs. I've got good family and friends but no job, no money, no girlfriend, depressed about wasting so much. The only game in Melbourne I've not gone to in the last 5 years was the Cats game when I was in detox. I LOVE the Bullies.

Earlier in the year we were playing some seriously good footy, A.B. (after Beveridge is what we should call this era, A.B.) our best has been as good as anyone's. We all know the story but I thought after the second Cats game that we were pretty much done.

We won the flag. I was there. That night I got home to everyone and their sister's mate's cat congratulating me. Texts from Gothenberg, London, Osaka, people I haven't seen for years (many due to me being a wino). I was standing outside looking at the stars and something changed me forever. I have felt like myself, like I have an identity. I didn't believe I deserved good things in life until that night. The world makes sense.

I don't think it's an understatement to say the Western Bulldogs FC 2016 GF has changed my life.

I drank hundreds of liters of booze out of this cup, this is my premiership cup.
