Much envy seeing the Pistols. They were my go to along with the Clash, Dead Kennedys and X (the Aussie version). Still reckon Suck Suck by X is the greatest Australian song ever released. If that song doesn't get ya moving you're dead inside.

MC5 was my gateway drug but looking back it is amazing how many musical paths great bands like the Pistols, the Clash and the DK's lead you down.

All the scribes seem to have latched onto the new glittery baubles namely the Hawks who are apparently the bestest most entertaining team ever seen,I do note David King still said we are still favourites although he has probably changed his mind 5 times. We really really need to beat the Hawks this year both during the season and in the finals.
We are due against Hawthorn. I feel that once we beat them we will have their measure for a while. A bit like we did against Richmond.

Loved X - used to see them a fair bit when they played in Melbourne.

I saw The Clash at Festival Hall in 1982. That’s still the best gig I’ve ever been to. How’s this for a set list!

When The Dead Kennedys toured in August 1983 I saw them consecutive nights, first at Monash Uni and then at The Seaview Ballroom. Amazing live band. Them and The Ramones tie for second place in my gigs ranking.

Mansell suspension upheld. I can't see Tigers winning without him. We can't claim to be the underdog anymore in this match.
What about our MCG Hoodoo?

King said we're his favourites to win the Premiership*. Not against Richmond.

I actually think he started out taking the p155 but when Kane thought he was serious he was like "oops, oh well, better double down on it now" 🤷

My band played support for the Dead Kennedys on a couple of dates of that '83 tour. Biggest mis-match in history, we were a jazz-funk outfit lol. Finished our first song in front of 400 skinheads to total silence, except for "f**k off and die!" from a bloke at the back. Got to watch the DK's from side of the stage both nights, it was great. And they were very nice to us, bought us all lots of beers.

Great experience! You might find this thread interesting. Actually anyone interested in Indie music should find something in here.

A non hierarchical school based on the 'Preshil' model. A 'Collective' focused on the cultural anthropology of the 1980’s Australian and International ‘Indie Scene’.

I think some commentators are just confused - we are a different Lions this year. Last year we would take the gamer on, do some flashy stuff, play the angles and cut through the middle, we were exciting and Hawthorn play like that now so they are the favourites. This year the Lions are just going to come up and bludgeon you to death, wear you down and put you away with the quiet confidence of a champion. More than ever this Lions team reminds me of the 2002/2003 era team which you just couldn't kill with a stick.

Hey all, I need the name of a small forward who is a little unknown but is looking likely. Want to try and cash in on some goal scoring markets and the way we are going, there has to be some tasty odds on the 3rd rung from every team able to fill his boots.

Also, from your more experienced eyes, was the performance against West Coast just the symptom of a side that has gone deep into the finals each year having a slow start, a good side getting dragged down by a crap side that has enthusiasm or West Coast playing out of their skin?

Yes it's interesting to note the amount of times that team looked dead and buried, only to rise, Lazarus-like, from the grave when all looked lost. The 2002 "match of the millennium" in Round 22 against Port Adelaide at Moron Park to decide the minor premiership was case in point of this.

Down by 33 late in the 3rd, a furious comeback saw us hit the front in time on of the last, only for a late Port goal to snatch back victory.

Equally interesting tho is our record in close games during that period under Lethal. From 1999-2003 we won only 4 matches decided by under 2 goals, losing 14 of them. It's a remarkable stat for a team that was so good at virtually everything else.

Compare that to our record in similar matches since 2019, where we hold a 21-12 record, far more consistent with our overall record during that period.

McLachlan baby

Melbourne Saturday: Some cloud, no rain. Max 17 degrees. Warmest part of the day around 4.15pm, just in time for the first bounce. Sunset about 7.13pm. Perfect Melbourne autumn football weather. Very traditional.

Looking forward to the cooler weather. Being brave and packing only shorts...

Will Mclachlan

The fact sportsbet don't have him listed yet has me excited to see his odds if named.

McLachlan knows three things in life are certain:
Death
Shagging
Kicking snags
