I would rather you have PMed me than sent me a visitor message because I don't check visitor messages often so your lucky you posted on this thread.

There is nothing I can do to help you as I believe that you can't get it working if you have reinstalled windows since you had last had the game installed.

I'm not exactly sure if the people who wanted to get the game working but had reinstalled windows actually managed to follow my instructions correctly, so there is a possibility it could work. If you want to try, Pm me and I will send you instructions.
 
Thanks for the uploads.

For a first time player would people recommend playing PC2011 with the real lists or start from scratch with a draft? The drafts interests me but I don't want to waste my time if the player ratings aren't accurate (widely out of date).

There won't be any first time players anymore, the game is unplayable unless you had the game activated before the activation went down around mid 2012?, If you do happen to have access to the game then I suggest you play using the real lists, and then when you get used to that, you can start doing some drafts.

I have a very very edited list going on in my thread. Only have created probably the top 20 draft picks for the year, and done all the trades/free agency and retirements/delistings.

Nothing official yet, they are still in progress, i just couldn't wait to get started on a story. That's why you see the Demons running around with Toumpas, and the Dogs with MacCrae and Stringer... but there is no Atkins or Siggins for Adelaide since they were further down the draft.

Will keep on working with the list and bringing new players in. Once i have a general outline of an updated list, i will post it here

Just had this error. :/ It was working fine last night and all I did was quit the game and shut the computer down. Does anyone have a solution? I'm over a year into the game and would hate to not be able to access the file now.

Don't delete your game files or anything, but download the game from the below link. Copy your config folder from your old copy of the game to the new copy and run the game. If it works, copy over your lists, game saves and your master.xml file which should be located in the data folder.

Cheers. Doing this has made a couple of other broken saves work which I'm happy to play. Unfortunately I had no luck with the one I was asking about.

Would anyone happen to have any saves that they could share? Would love to have a look at them.

Yes there is. Just go into the player files, copy one of the files and open the file up, change the player ID, and whatever else you need to (First name, Last name, DOB, club id), you would also need to delete any past history of the player you copied and also when you close the file, you should change the name of the file to what you changed the player Id to.
 
My favourite part about the game is that it's realistic. :( One of those free kicks against us included a 50 metre penalty that sealed it.

Been getting back into the game in the last month after not touching it for 6 months. Was always crap at it. Started one as Richmond and I am now at the year 2020 having made finals 7 years in a row winning 2 premierships. Deledio is a dual brownlow medalist and Riewoldt has won the Coleman 5 times in a row. A thing that frustrates me is in the national draft, most players are 21-23 years of age and sometimes I click on a particular player to draft but it won't let me draft him. Still, heaps of fun. Can't wait until they release this new AFL manager thing that is in the works...

Okay so i am new to this game as well. Can you give me any tips, i am clueless(generally in life as well) and have so many questions would you ba able to pass on some general or detailed tips. Thank you

Its quiet easy once you know what you are doing. I would make a new list for you to try this out because you don't want to stuff the main list up.

1. Go into the data file
2. Go into Base
3. Go into the list that you are changing
4. Go into Staff folder
5. Make sure that all the items in the folder are set to open up in Notepad (easiest to work with)
6. Find the coach you are looking for.. example i am going to use Brenton Sanderson

The only thing you will need to change are highlighted below

You will need to change their Club ID, at the moment he is on the Geelong coaching Panel, so the Adelaide club ID which is shown in your picture is the right one. The only other thing you will need to change is the Role. Each number is a different role, and if i'm correct Sanderson is Role 4 with the Cats which is one of the assistants. Change the role to 1 which makes someone a head coach which is shown in the picture above!, that is all you have to do.

But of course you will need to go to the previous head coach's page and change his details. For example, Neil Craig was ex-Crows coach. He is now at Melbourne and one of their assistants. Just do that exact same thing as above, find Neil Craig, change his Club ID (all club ID'S can be found in this thread a while back) and change his role to 2-3-4-5 wichever is available, that way Craig is removed from Senior Coach and Brenton Sanderson is now senior coach.

It's fairly simple but you need to make sure that the ex-coaches change their role otherwise the game will crash because it will think 2 people are senior coaches of the club.
