Hi guys,

i purchased the new premiership coach 2011 via download last night.

I am new to this series and need some help please. To be quite frank, I am getting totally flogged even on easy.

I am clearly a noob to this however not sure why the huge floggings. I have chosen Richmond (ok clearly not the strongest team) and choose their current real line up.

I am getting flooged by upward of 100 points every game. I am making subs throughout and trying to balance the training etc.

Any tips would be great please, even those that have played 2010.

Hi mate,

I stumbled across a download link from within a forum thread on the official premiership Coach 2011 forum.

It is a legitimate copy in which I paid $50 via Paypal. The link was put up by the guy that makes it.

Try searching for the official forum and see if you can find the link. It must be just for downloads only which is why it is not on the official web page yet.

Great game and hours go like minutes, but I am rubbish at it.

Question though to do with my above one...

Is my team meant to be poor in the forst season and the idea is to build them up to be competitive or am I just managing them totally wrong hence my horrendous score lines?...Both maybe?

Any help would be appreciated. I cant figure out why I am so non competitive.

Depends on what team you have picked. If you have picked a team that finished low in 2010 (west coast, richmond etc etc) then you will probably be poor for 2-3 years or until you get some decent talent coming in.

Also, I found the download link and did $35 upgrade, when should I expect an email with the download link?

Can't wait to get home and play this. will keep me busy until AFL Live is out :D

I've found it to be a large improvement over the first. There are a couple of bugs/problems, which are detailed on the official forums, but in terms of gameplay and stability it's very impressive. Importantly, I've happily put in about 10 seasons worth of play since buying it roughly a week ago, so there's clearly an addictive quality to it as well (granted, this may be a personal thing).

So yes, well worth buying.

Do you sim games completely? I'm not sure how else you could play through 10 seasons in only one week.
 
I purchased the first version, and whilst it was awesome for what it was, I ended up getting too fed up with the amount of bugs in the game. The worst being when your FF marks the ball on the goal line, only to kick backwards and turn it over in the process.

Apart from that, my crappy old PC processor isn't fast enough to handle the game as it eats up alot of memory when it's running.

I would only consider buying the 2011 version if they made this compatible with Macs, as my Macbook would have the speeds required to handle the game. Has there been any word in regards to this?

Indeed, aside from an important game or two per season.

I've always found the list management/strategy and statistical side of these games more interesting than the match day itself, and so have it set to 'player team selection' and 'assistant match day coaching'. Works nicely.

Almost no chance of it happening I wouldn't think. Not sure how difficult it is making software run on Mac is, but being a one man low budget title I'm not sure porting it would be viable.

You would need some type of emulator. Or run a windows XP VM on your Mac and run it on there.

And no, it's not a poor effort. The developer has spent countless hours offering a very good product that targets AFL gamers. I don't see any other developer doing anything do you? (Other than AFL live).

It's 50 bucks mate, sheesh. Many, many, many developers do not release demo's any more. Why should this be any different.

Just buy it and enjoy it. Bugs can be patched.

I am totally loving this for its depth and addiction to growing my team.

Cheap, addictive entertainment if you ask me.
 
Hadn't ever heard of the 2010 version but really wish I had. Haven't played an AFL management game since Sheedy's AFL Coach 2000 came out when I was 11. ha. Been craving for one. So what did I do? Looked at the screenshots....that was enough for me. Paid my $50 worth of hard earned AUD. Probably gonna fail uni now because of this game :p

What are you talking about? EA who control the majority of the sports games market nearly release demos for everything (madden,fifa,golf,hockey).
Even though i know they are going to produce a good title, they still allow a demo to let everyone try it.

Even AFL LIVE 2011, they didn't release a demo but they are doing plenty of playtests allowing everyone to try it

Why should i pay $50 for a game that i have no idea how it will play. i haven't even seen a video of it, and they expect me to pay $50 basing on the features list they have on their home page.

I didn't like the first one and got bored of it after a couple of days, so wont be buying this one

comparing it to an EA game suggests it's not what you're looking for. It's a MANAGEMENT game.

Think FM, OOTP, Eastside type games.

Actually, OOTP is a pretty good comparison IMO. It's been an award-winning, highly-rated game for a good decade now, yet has really only had a very small (3 now IIRC, only 1 for years) team of developers. It's up to it's 10th or so version.

PC might not be up to that level yet, but IMO it's far, far beyond what OOTP1, 2 and 3 were.
