Well said Macca(23). I think both clubs would be happy with their trading. Port got gave up less for Pickett than they got for Brooks. Port needed another hard at it player & they don't come much harder than Pickett. Cochrane may not turn out to be much, but they only gave up M Stevens, who may of been delisted anyway!Originally posted by macca23
Macca19, I think that getting Byron Pickett for what you did was probably the value of the trading period - he is a great player and can be a matchwinner. Would love to have him at Adelaide.
As for the Crows trading, we have got what we desperately needed in Carey, Torney allows Edwards more time in the midfield and Burns could be the surprise package in the hands of his old coach. Throw in the up and coming talent off of our rookie list and I reckon the Crows hierarchy have done a great job.
I'm very cofident that both Adelaide teams will be up there with a real chance for the flag next year.
As for the Crows, once Carey stated he wanted to play for the Crows, were always going to play a small premium for him, considering our dire need for a 2nd tall forward. Ronnie is a risk, but Ayres reckons he can get the best out of him - & Finan probably wouldn't crack out side in 2003, so we haven't given up much (& brought up Mattner & Rutten for nothing!) Sugar will be a loss, but with ample midfielders, our squad has a better balance to it now (just need another young ruckman). Bring on 2003!
