We were talking about Cam Mooney's retirement at work today and it got us thinking about players who have won premierships at more than one club. We could think of a few who have done it at two different clubs, but then we were stumped to think of players who had won premierships at three or more different clubs. Has this ever occurred? Does someone hold the record? Sorry if this has been discussed before.

Has never happened. Players to have played in flags at two different clubs:

Not VFL/AFL but in the WAFL, Gerard Neesham is the only player to play in Premierships for three different clubs.

Neesham played in Swan Districts' flag wins in 1983 and 1984.

He was then cleared to East Fremantle for 1985 and won a premiership with the Sharks that season.

In 1987 Neesham took on the role of Claremont's Captain-Coach, leading them to flags (while still a player) in 1987 and 1989.

It's also worth noting that if Neesham hadn't played for the newly-formed Sydney Swans in 1982, he would have had another Flag with Swan Districts. Not only that, (if I'm not mistaken) it would have meant that he would have played in eight straight WAFL Grand Finals (and 9 out of 10) as East Fremantle and Claremont each lost to Subiaco in 1986 and 1988 respectively.

Interesting that Jason Ball played in the second flag against his old club.
