Good news for Hawks as they are in the box seat to claim their 3-peat after jumping Gumbies in the ladder in the final round of the season to finish 1st. 1st placed teams have the highest premiership total and are typically the more likely team to make the grand final than any other position.

Gumbies, Roys and Wonders will also be pretty pleased with their current teams positions as they are the next best odds at taking home the premiership, with 2nd, 5th and 6th tied for second at achieving the ultimate success.

Demons are in a funny position as 3rd has won the premiership before (Hawks just 2 seasons ago) but it has only happened once in the past 10 seasons and has been fairly recent, so that could be seen as a good thing or a bad thing.

Odds are against Dragons, Old Boys and Swamprats who are all in positions where the premiership hasn't been won in the past 10 seasons. But that could also be a good sign as they may believe they are due one soon.

Last time a team from 4th won the premiership you need to go all the way back to season 27 when Swamprats prevailed through a classic finals series that consisted of them losing by a single point to 1st placed Mount Buller in the First Qualifying Final, then beating Baghdad by 14 points in the Semi, besting Coney Island by 20 points in the Prelim, then winning it all in the Grand Final against the Las Vegas Bears by just 3 points.

Last time a team from 7th won the premiership you need to go back to season 28 when the Dragons hit form at the perfect time and tore through their competition in a finals series where they won their Grand Final, Prelim and Elimination Final by more than 45 points each.

Last time a team from 8th won the premiership you need to go all the way back to season 23 when the Baghdad Bombers made their historic finals run that saw them best the Roys and Swamprats by 7 points each in the elimination final and semi final respectively, then smash the Dragons by 75 points in the prelim and finally dominate the Furies by 48 points in the Grand Final.
