Started officially today with a 3km time trial. Returning today was Players (1-3 years in the AFL system) and our new recruits.

The players returning today are: Trent Dennis-Lane, Nathan Gordon, Dan Hannebery, Campbell Heath, Lewis Jetta, Alex Johnson, Eugene Kruger, Jed Lamb, Dylan McNeil, Luke Parker, Mike Pyke, Sam Reid, Gary Rohan, Tony Armstrong, Mitch Morton, Tommy Walsh.

Players with four to seven years AFL experience will return to the club for pre-season next Thursday, November 17, while the remainder of the playing group, those with over eight years of experience, will return a week later on the 24th.

Mitch Morton and Tommy Walsh square off in some boxing as they train for the first time with the Swans.

Eugene Kruger won the 3km time trial from Alex Johnson and Nipper Gordon. Hanners was in the top 4 mid run, and finished 4th I believe.

Eugene Kruger won the 3km time trial from Alex Johnson and Nipper Gordon. Hanners was in the top 4 mid run, and finished about there.

Thanks for the info magic but sorry I have a question. When you said Hanners finished about there did you mean about 4th or finished about Half way or lost a lot of ground in the last 1500M?

Sorry I'll edit.

He finished 4th I believe. It's a bit ambiguous from Facebook and twitter.

Facebook:
Eugene Kruger won the 3km time trial. John Longmire highlighted the efforts of Alex Johnson who was hot on the heels of the leaders and Dan Hannebery.

Twitter:
Johnson, Kruger, Hanners and Nipper among the leaders at the half way point of the 3km trial.
Then.
Eugene Kruger was fastest in today's 3km. Alex Johnson and Nathan Gordon were hot on his heels.

Impressive by Alex. Really shows he is having a crack and a half!

You read about 2nd year players returning from their first off season, and not knowing what is required of them and losing some base fitness and gaining weight. He has improved!

AJ did well in the 3km time trial (top 3 IIRC) and I expressed my surprise at a KPP excelling at the long distance run but then one of his friends or ex-schoolmates posted here that he was an strong endurance runner in his teenage years so perhaps not all that surprising.

Jetta's not in the photo of them at the starting line. That's a good way to kick off preseason

I think Jetta is badly positioned behind Reidy. You can see the flashy blue runners.

From L to R: Gordon, Reid, AJ, Jetta (hidden), black wavy hair?, Parker, Kruger, Lamb, Armstrong, Rohan, Hanners?, McNeil, TDL
with Morton and Walsh not participating in the background

Isn't that Pyke in the front row between Reid and Parker?

I can't see anyone in that group that looks like Johnson, though obviously he was there.

As far as I can tell Pyke, Morton and Walsh didn't run, or ran behind the pack.

Kudos to Armstrong shaving his hair and getting down to business.

Yikes...either Jetta talks a lot bolderdust or has poor genetics...I'm not sure which one I'd rather it be, both have their vices for a 3rd year player in the system whos still coming last.

unless he's injured I cant say im enthralled about a third year running player in need of a big season running last in the 3km time trial.

Lol wtf Morton, but kickboxing is an incedible way to build fitness so at least his mind is right.

Add me to the brigade who are nonplussed by Jetta's lack of fitness. We can only assume/hope they were running into the wind.
