Thought we needed a thread to discuss all things preseason.

Cant believe it is almost 2021 😂😂

Good to see some of the older guys back already even though they don't need to.

Anyone know why Naughton is still in WA? Find it odd he isn’t training when all other 1-4 year players have returned
My best guess is the quarantine requirements. Since the players will have Christmas off anyway, he may have wanted to remain in WA for now, spend Christmas with family, then return to Vic afterwards

There’s no quarantine there afaik, but the club is probably being a bit more lenient with players from interstate (especially someone like Astro!) .

Btw when are you going to change that avatar, asking for a friend

Not sure where to mention this but Skinner Reserve will be used as a second Bulldogs training Facility

" The proposed upgrade would involve the redevelopment of the existing field to a high quality grass surface, sand-based oval, comparable to the size and scale of Marvel Stadium with renewed local level fence-line and interchange benches; the construction of a two-lane running track inside the fence line, plus lighting to allow local night competition and training; AFL standard goal posts with protective goal netting, and improved spectator amenities and landscaped surrounds. The improvements, specifically to the quality of the reserve surface, would more than double the amount of time sports clubs are able to use the facility – from the 10-15 hours currently to up to 35 hours per week (in addition to casual use). The Western Bulldogs Football Club would use the space as a second training facility for approximately 12 hours per week over three nights. "

Sounds good. Now, if only they could also exhume the Sunshine Football Club (Go the Crows!) for VFL/NEAFL participation.

Used to be a drug haven when I was younger. Wonder if that has changed or improved over the years.

Can't imagine too many AFL players enjoying coming out to Braybrook

What's the motivation from a WB perspective?

More specifically what's our intended use of Skinner Reserve (apart from the odd occasion when the WO is not available, e.g. top-dressing)? They are saying we'd use it on average 4 hours a night for 3 nights a week. That's pretty substantial use. Do we train there now? Or would it be more for our VFL and VFLW teams?

Likely the Whitten oval upgrades will be starting soon, so the gyms and other areas will be off limits so having a place already set up will be important.
Kinda like how Melbourne are using Casey Fields after that upgrade as their second base to avoid high numbers at AAMI Park.

VFL and VFLW primarily. Imperative to have a second high quality ground available now. Three teams on one oval won’t always work.

In the article it states that the surface can be used for up to 35 hours per week. There might be a similar limitation to the about of use that the wo surface can handle without damage so perhaps it isn't enough for what the teams would like to do.
