I like that idea, that team oozes class but also grunt too. My brain is fried right now, who are the notable omissions in that side? ...

Off the top of my head Maric, Grigg, King, S Edwards, Petterd, Lennon, Batchelor

Interesting that Helbig and Miles were playing centre square for the probables. I wonder if we're angling to play our stars (Cotch, Lids, Dusty etc) in more outside roles this year, utilising their class and extending their career spans.

FB: Morris Chaplin Grimes
HB: Dusty Rance Vlastuin
C: Cotchin Conca Ellis
HF: Lids Jack Knights
FF: Griffiths Vickery McDonough
Fol: Hampson Foley Jackson
Int: Houli, Newman, Miles, Helbig

Heaps of class outside with grunt to boot and a quality spine. I may be biased but that's a top 4 side IMO.

Damn that's quality, so dangerous on the wings and down the centre, I just hope all the fringe players step up Helbig, Griffs, and co

Hate to say it but I'm not convinced Maric will play much more football for the RFC. Groins. Hope I'm wrong.

I hope your wrong too….would be a real loss. Although might explain why the big O was kept on (or partly the reason, wouldn't surprise if he ended up as a VFL/AFL assistant)

Just cannot wait to see our boys get out there season proper and give it to oppositions, I can see Cotch polling every week and maybe even winning a BL, Dusty taking his game to a new level, guys like Ellis and Conca and Floss being so important and lifting, Vicks kicking bags in games. I hope to God Griffs comes good and cements his position. And Lennon I think is going to be very special and hope he will be that one more gun midfielder were missing, with also our mature age recruits doing good things. I think we are just improving so well but we need to keep the momentum as the competition is fierce.

Just get excited when I look at our list now!

UTG I like the fact they get hostile. We have been passive for far too long.

As I said I didn't see the exact hit that started it and whether it was above board. Elton certainly went after him, but Cotchin is no choirboy on the field. He was very much a mutual aggressor.
Which is great.

That kind of defeats the purpose of the side. Foley, Helbig and Miles can play inside, dishing it out to Cotch, Dusty, Ellis, Lids, Vlastuin, Conca. Petterd, Grigg, Gordon are all flankers with no inside game. They force our better players to do more grunt work, where they get battered.

True about Maric though. I'd like to see Griff in that spot eventually.

On one point then Arnott for Foley.

Don't say that! My eldest started Year 7 this week at Keilor Downs College and was so excited to see a signed jumper of Ivan's which probably indicates (as he was a local boy) that he went to school there.

You must be my next door neighbour !

Great side Stylo. The only change for me is Lennon for McDonough. I know Lennon has just been recruited but he just has a huge bag of tricks and is a really smart footballer. The best part is he has really neat kicking skills in close and pressure while kicking for goal does not faze him.

Watching champs and hearing a bit from Northern goal kicking is what really lets Lennon down as he misses many shots he should kick.

Also think McDonough has a similar sized bag of tricks to Lennon. Kid is a gem and Chocco has said he is the most natural footballer at the club.

Oh good post. I did not hear that

This is all getting so confusing. So many good players I'm starting to hate our depth just wanna see some of these kids play.:)

Just head to punt road during the season. You'll see them take apart the VFL
DAMN STRAIGHT

Can't wait a few big days coming up. Luckily for me a have converted the Mrs to watch footy and love the Tigers. she is looking forward to it as much as I am. Hopefully she doesn't do Megan Gale on me. Poor Andy Lee.

Nope.

Maric went to Overnewton College which is in nearby Keilor.

Oh wow! When I started there in year 7 it was called Keilor Downs Post Primary School. At one stage Danny Corcoran was our PE teacher. That has probably sent a shiver down your spine. Rest easy! Years ago they did an internal audit, and rid themselves of essendon rabble teachers.

Even though he was never a student at KDPPS, there is a 6 degrees of separation thing going on with Maric. I keep in touch with my old school buddys, and apparently my old mate the long-haired, south melbourne hellas supporting, lanky pillock, red celica hair dressers car driving, whinging "I was up till 3 in the mornin marking assignments for youse ungrateful kids" son-of-a-gun maths teacher Mr K coached junior soccer at Maric's and Mark Viduka's local Croatian club St Albans Dynamo...or whatever they're called now.

I took part in a survey for the ABC today on their sports coverage. I put in my comments that given most teams are going back to stand alone VFL teams, it would be amazing if they started showing a game on both Saturday and Sunday.
Who would you rather watch? Richmond v Collingwood reserves in a Sunday, or Melbourne v Port Adelaide?

Lol!

I'll tell my son to watch out for a "Mr K" teaching maths, in case he's still there. Though I'll also be grateful he's not teaching English to "youse ungrateful kids". (As an aside, I teach history as a sessional slave at uni and have to, on a regular basis, mark 1-200 crappy 2,000 word essays mostly written by semi-literate Bachelor of Education students - so if he tries a whinge like that on my son, I have the obvious come back.) :)
